How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced technical support :

Possible causes

This noise can be due to any one of the following: A piece of paper, or other obstruction, is stuck somewhere inside the printer. One of the toner cartridges or photo developer units may be installed incorrectly or may be damaged. A door or cover may not be closed completely.

Check to see if the Paper Out light is flashing, indicating there`s paper jammed inside the printer. If there is a jam see Clear paper jams in the Printer Guide. If grinding occurs from the front and rear and there`s no sign of a paper jam, contact Epson`s technical support for further assistance.
Whilst all printers will make a noise to some extent, the crown for the noisiest type of printer must go to the dot matrix printer.
Filament grinding, which is accompanied by a “clicking” or “squeaking ” sound coming from the extruder, usually happens when the extruder gears are unable to push the filament further towards the nozzle. Over time, the gears grind away the filament, until they can`t grab it anymore.
The noise you are describing could be the carriage sticking or a small piece of debris inside the unit. You could go thought each of these documents step by step to clean out your printer to see if it resolves the issue.
If a printer`s cartridge assembly is a little off the alignment, it won`t print every line in a misaligned way. Instead, it can print a few lines correctly and if the problem accumulates, the printer will print few bad lines.
You`ll know the drum is dirty if you notice that the print quality has become blurry and features blank spots or oddly-colored spots despite having full toner cartridges. Horizontal lines across the printout when the paper passes over a dirty area are another sign that it`s time for some maintenance.
If your PC or the LCD screen on your printer is telling you that your ink cartridges are full but no ink is passing through to the paper, then it`s most likely that you are dealing with a clogged printhead. Blurry documents and images that appear faded are also signs that it`s time to remove the excess ink.
Remove the rear access door, or the automatic two-sided printing accessory, and check for any paper jams or paper obstructions. Remove any obstructions. Check to make certain the carriage is on the right side of the printer. Rotate the rear paper guide rollers upwards five times, then downwards four times.
Verb The corn is ground into meal. The steel grinds to a sharp edge. She kept grinding the car`s gears.
As a rule of thumb, occupational safety experts say that electric angle grinders generate noise levels in the 85 to 95 dB(A) range.
Linishers and bench-mounted grinders can produce noise levels of about 88 to 95 dB(A). Hand-held angle grinders can produce noise levels of about 90 to 115 dB(A).
If the material is not being melted at enough speed, it will get stuck on the hotend while the motor keeps pushing which results in it being grinded, try to increase the temperature by 5ºC or 10ºC to help the filament melt in time.
The average 3D printer is around 50 decibels, which is as loud as a normal conversation. Cheaper 3D printers tend to be the loudest, as well as FDM printers because of all the moving parts. Thankfully, there are many ways to reduce how loud your 3D printer is.
A muzzle blast which occurs when high-pressure gases within the barrel are suddenly released and rapidly expand when the projectile exits the muzzle and the bullet-bore contact that maintained the seal is removed. A typical muzzle blast generates a shock wave with a sound pressure level (SPL) of 140 dB or louder.
Because you have a quantity of gunpowder burning so quickly that it is, in effect, a small explosion inside a tightly confined space(the chamber and barrel) driving a projectile at supersonic velocities out of the muzzle. The crack you hear (better be wearing ear protection) is the sonic boom of a tiny bullet.
The major reasons behind the 3D prints having rough edges or corners include: Printing at High Temperatures. Printing the Object too Fast. Z Offset and Print Bed is Not Adjusted Accurately.
This is most likely due to your print speed being set too low or the density being set too high. Please set your print speed to “5” and the density to “4” and print. Adjust (lower) Speed / Density and click OK.
Unfortunately, the short answer is: no, you shouldn`t leave your printer unattended in the middle of a project because of safety issues. That may sound unreasonable, but the printer can be a fire hazard and you don`t want to risk returning to a burnt down home or office.
There are many factors that determine the actual drum life, such as the temperature, humidity, type of paper, type of toner used, number of pages per print job and so on. Under ideal conditions, the average drum life is estimated at approximately 12,000 pages.
Streaking, smudging, black lines, and double images are all symptoms of a bad fuser. When you notice these printing defects and experience problems, such as paper jams or wrinkles, this is a good sign to replace the fuser kit.
A good rule of thumb: if your printer is more than seven years old, you may want to start pricing new units. In this case, even a relatively inexpensive component is not worth the investment.
The average lifespan of a printer is around 3-5 years. With proper upkeep and maintenance, some printers can last longer, but eventually your machine will need an upgrade.

Lexmark X4650 paper Jamming!!
ANSWER : Well I had two printers that had similar issues – misalignment of paper feed which rendered both printers useless. I shook the Lexmark x4650 a couple of times and then plugged it in and got new paper and voila the misalignment was gone and it actually fed paper like it used to and printed it too.

Lexmark paper feed problems
ANSWER : On my X204n Lexmark laser printer, it was doing the same thing you described – basically sounded like it was trying to pick up the paper from the tray and then failing after several seconds. When you’d open the paper tray, the paper looked like it had been partially taken up with some black scuff marks on the paper that lined up with the rollers that take up the paper. I inspected the rollers and although they looked a bit smooth and worn, didn’t seem like they should be a problem. However, this particular model has just a rubber tire almost like a car tire – the rubber can come off the hard plastic wheel on the inner portion. So I popped off the two rubber “tires”, turned them inside out and put them back on. When turned inside out, the rubber looked nice and … rubbery and had a lot more grippy feeling to them. The very first printing attempt after that and the paper sucked up perfectly with no problems. I think the problem is solved! So if you have similar “tires” that take up the paper, try flipping them and see if it works for you too.

Lexmark X466 empty tray
ANSWER : The “Load Tray 1 with A4 paper” means the printer is looking for A4 size paper in Tray 1 and that is not what it is detecting. You need to make sure that the paper size that is in the tray matches what the printer is expecting so it understands that it should be looking for a specific size of paper. If you are printing on regular Letter size paper – set the printer tray to Letter instead of A4 and message should go away.
