Remove the cartridge indicated in the error message, and then insert the new cartridge into the slot. Repeat these steps to replace any other cartridges indicated in the error message. Close the door or lid to the cartridge access area, and then follow any instructions to align the printer.
Remanufactured cartridges provide you with the same high-quality experience as the originals, but still, they cost much less. So what`s the catch? It is actually true – some remanufactured inks can help you save up to 70% of your usual printing expenses while ensuring the same top quality.
1. Can you use other ink cartridges in an HP printer? It will depend on what type of “other” ink cartridge you intend to use on your HP printer. If it`s a third-party or generic compatible/remanufactured ink cartridge of the same model number, then yes, it will work.
Remanufactured/Own Brand/Compatible– these are remanufactured from previously used original ink and toner cartridges. The empty cartridges are sent back to a remanufacturing plant, where the cartridge housing is refurbished. Most of the internal components are replaced and the cartridge is refilled with new ink toner.
Disable the Cartridge Policy feature

In the Device Management pane, select the printers (or printer group) to configure. In the bottom navigation pane, select Config, and then select Supplies. In the Cartridge Policy section, select Off. Click Apply.

Remove all of the new cartridges you had installed and re-install the old (empty) cartridges that worked. Restart the printer, this should remove the not recognised error (and tell you some are empty).

Remanufactured ink or toner: An original name brand cartridge that has been professionally cleaned, refilled with similar quality ink, and then tested to make sure you get the same print quality as the original cartridge.
You may clean the copper part and the contact points with rubbing alcohol. Power ON the printer and re-install the cartridge(s). Reset the printer to factory`s default configuration. If it is still not working, please re-install the CD, printer software and driver on your computer again.
HP Certified Refurbished Products are products that have been returned to HP and subsequently undergone a refurbishment process prior to being re-offered for sale. HP Certified Refurbished Products undergo a rigorous quality refurbishment process designed to ensure that they perform to HP`s high standards.
Take-home Message

To summarize, all (or almost all) HP`s cartridges are refillable. Not all the chips can be reset or overridden, but HP will always leave a refill solution for you.

The “Incompatible Cartridge” message may signal you that the cartridge was placed in the wrong slot. In case you get such an error, make sure the cartridge model numbers match your printer model and your country/region. After that, check if they are installed correctly in the corresponding slots.
Ideally, you should recycle them as soon as they`ve been used, as this stops the ink residue left inside the cartridge from drying out, making them easier to clean. The cartridges can then be refilled, re-sold and reused.
Should you have a printer that`s not connected to the internet, you can go to “settings” on the printer menu and simply select the “disable cartridge protection” option available. Alternatively, if your printer has internet connectivity you can open up a browser on a PC or laptop and type in your printer`s IP address.
A remanufactured product will have all the components replaced on it, all to the new specification, while refurbished products only have the failed components replaced.

Waste Toner Cartridge is empty but printer is still telling me to replace it
ANSWER : All of the ones I’ve seen are optical. Light shines through a transparent section of the waste box onto a photocell. If toner builds up past that area, it gives a warning to replace it. Possibly toner dust has gotten on the photocell.

Error message reads remove and check right cartridge
ANSWER : You can try cleaning the contacts on the back of the cartridge and the ones that they contact in the printer. Other than that, you have to replace the cartridge. I once had one that did the same thing. I swapped the cartridge with another printer of the same model and both printers worked fine. I swapped them back and the original printer got the same error. The other printer had no problem with either cartridge. I swapped them back and left them that way.

run with empty ink cartridge
ANSWER : The only way is to buy a chip resetter and reset the chip on the cartridge. You can find them online for about $5. You just hold it against the cartridge until the light turns green. You do run the risk of damaging the printhead due to overheating because of no ink in it.
