Begin by selecting a print or scan action tile, and while viewing the file you scanned into HP Smart, tap the share button. Tap Mail. HP Smart opens the Mail app on your mobile device and attaches the document or image to a new email message.
The fully qualified domain name of the SMTP service is smtp.gmail.com. Configuration options include: Port 25, 465, or 587.
Click the Scan tile on the HP Smart app home screen. Select an option from the top menu bar. Scanner: Place the original on the printer scanner glass or into the automatic document feeder (ADF). Select scan job type, size, color, and resolution settings, and then click Scan in the lower right corner.
On the top navigation bar, click the Scan/Digital Send tab, and in the left navigation pane, click E-Mail Setup. Click the Enable Send to E-Mail check box to enable the setting. note: If the check box is not available, the feature is unavailable at the printer control panel.
For Windows, open your scans and navigate to “File” then “Print”. In the drop-down menu for “Printer”, select “Microsoft Print to PDF”. Click “Print”. This will save your scans in PDF format.
How to scan a document to email in Gmail. Gmail uses a drag and drop method for adding scanned documents to emails. All you need to do is select the document or documents that you`d like to attach, then drag them to the body of the email you`re sending.

ANSWER : If you are using the ADF, all pages are scanned with the scanner stationary on the left side. There is a small glass above the scanner and if there is anything on it, dust, whiteout, ink etc. it will interpret it as a line. First solution would be to clean the glass with window cleaner and a paper towel. If that doesn’t solve it, then scan the page on the flat glass and see if the problem continues.

Scanning and copying faint image
ANSWER : The scanning is done by light bouncing off of some mirrors. Could be dust on one of the mirrors. Try shining a light down into the scanner unit and look at the mirror that is visible and see if it has dust coating on the side that is light.
