Select Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners, select your product, and select Options & Supplies. Select Driver or Options. You see a screen like this: Select On as the Permit temporary black printing setting.

If your Epson printer is printing out faint images, skipping lines, or is streaking your image with lines, chances are you have a clogged nozzle–a common problem many users have with Epson printers. It`s unavoidable that print heads clog over time as small amounts of ink residue dry up and collect in the nozzles.
Press the home button, if necessary. Press the left or right arrow button to select Maintenance > Reset Ink Level. Press the start button, the OK button twice, and then the start button again. Press the right or left arrow button to highlight the ink tank you refilled and press the OK button to select it.
Quality black printing requires both black and colour inks for depth and fullness. All colour printers are designed with this in mind.
Grayscale printing is better for black-and-white images, because of this setting`s ability to create various contrasting shades and finer details.
Make sure the Black/Grayscale or Grayscale setting is not selected in your printer software. Run a nozzle check to see if any of the print head nozzles are clogged. Then clean the print head, if necessary. The ink levels may be low and you may need to refill the ink.
Set Default to Black and White

Right-click on the printer and click Printer properties. In the printer properties window, go to General tab and click Preferences button. In the Printing Preferences window, go to Paper/Output tab. Select Black and White.

Refilled the BLACK and it quit. 20 nozzle checks later and still nothing so I took a syringe with a piece of fish air tubing. pulled all the 4 cartridges and blew air into all colors, cleaned the contacts and two cleanings and WALLAAA!!! ANSWER : I have this printer, and while your advice says a refill shop can reset the chip, I was told by a chip -resetter device seller on ebay that this particular printer won’t work with their chip-resetter.
