There are a number of porous pads in the printer that collect, distribute, and contain ink that is not used on printed pages. Ink is collected by these pads during the initial setup of the product, during cleaning cycles, and when printing borderless photographs.
If an error message appears indicating the printer`s ink pads are nearing the end of their service life, contact Epson support to replace them. The message will be displayed at regular intervals until the ink pads are replaced.
Once you`ve removed the old waste ink pad, clean the area around the pad with a damp cloth or paper towel. Then, install the new waste ink pad and reassemble the printer. After replacing the waste ink pad, you`ll need to reset the waste ink counter to clear the “waste ink pad full” error message.
One of two issues can cause this. The toner cartridge may not be fully seated into the photoconductor unit. This can cause the seal between the two to break, allowing toner to leak out. The other possibility is that the toner cartridge or the photoconductor unit may be damaged.
Chances are you will run out of ink (or the ink will dry out) before you need a replacement stamp! For self-inking stamps, the ink pad will last for up to 10,000 impressions before needing to be replaced. For pre-inked stamps, the ink pad will last for up to 50,000 impressions before needing to be replaced.
Conclusion. If you want to re-use your waste ink, think about ways to use it for things like tie-dyeing, caligraphy or any manner of other craft activities (be aware that the inks are unlikely to be suitable for use by children!) but don`t use it in your printer.
