How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced technical support :

Tear Off Mode tells the printer to feed the printed label to the tear bar to allow the user to tear the label off. Then the printer has to pull the next label back into the printer to print the next label.
Windows: Select Printer Properties, click the More Options tab, and make sure the High Speed setting is enabled. Mac: Select System Preferences, select Printers & Scanners, and select your product. Select Options & Supplies, select Options (or Driver), and enable the High Speed Printing setting.
Align the print head. Make sure you are using genuine Epson ink cartridges. If you use non-Epson ink cartridges, printouts may be faint, or the color of the printed image may be uneven because the remaining ink level is not correctly detected. Make sure your ink cartridges have not expired.
To remove dust or smudges, gently wipe the obstacle sensor glass with lens-cleaning paper. To remove stubborn smudges, moisten a soft, lint-free cloth with lens cleaner and gently wipe the obstacle sensor glass. Warning: Do not use a lens cleaner that contains flammable gas.
Often, the characters get cut in half so that only the top half of the line prints. The most common complaint is that the bottom of a page border doesn`t print. The most common cause of this problem is that the bottom margin, footer margin, or page border is outside the printable area of the page.
The best print speed for everyday prints (medium quality) is about 50–60 mm/s. However, users should note that some materials can be printed very quickly (e.g. PLA) while some require a slower rate to prevent warping or print failure (e.g. TPU).
Go to Settings > `Printers & scanners` > Click on your printer > Manage > Printer properties > Advanced > Printing Defaults. If the button and some values are greyed out, make sure to click `Change Properties` under the General tab first.

Paper feeds straight through without printing on an Epson R2400
ANSWER : I was able to get it to print the internal test page by holding down the sheet paper feed button while turning the machine on — then continuing to hold the sheet paper feed button. It took several attempts, feeding a page straight through, but eventually it caught the sheet and printed. So it may be a timing issue as others have mentioned. It could still mean that the feed rollers are worn out. The back side of the large D-shaped feed roller has visible abrasion on it. The abrasion is difficult to see as the roller does not stay with the flat side exposed.

Epson Stylus C64 in problems, Help!!!!
ANSWER : a lucky tip – if all else fails and you don’t have a PC instead of a Mac, try what I did on my C63. When the head finished moving and both red lights flashed with a “general error’ message, turn off the printer power supply and physically slide the head from its rest position to the far left of the printer. This seems to re-set the “foreign body” trigger. Turn the power back on, the head slowly moves back to the rest position and hey presto the lights have stopped flashing and the printer works! Sounds clumsy but you have nothing to lose trying it, the cost of repair exceeds the value of a 10 year old printer.
