Make sure your paper meets the specifications for your product. If paper dust builds up on the rollers, they may lose traction and become unable to feed paper properly. Clean the paper guide. If roll paper does not feed, cut the end straight across and uncurl it by rolling it backward, if necessary.
Select > Paper Setting > paper source > Print Adjustments > Paper Feed Adjust. Select one of the following: Auto: automatically adjusts the paper feed setting (takes 9 to 35 minutes to complete); Epson recommends running this option first.
When the red H ink light flashes, one or more ink cartridges are low on ink. When the red H ink light stays on, you need to replace the cartridge(s). When you print, you`ll also see a message on your screen telling you which cartridge is low or empty.
The paper trays are empty or overloaded. The paper is curled. The print side, or shiny side, of the paper is not loaded in the tray face down. For photo paper, always load the rougher side of the paper facing up.
Push down the release lever to slightly raise the feeder mechanism and release the paper. Then slowly pull the jammed paper out of the feeder mechanism. (Be careful not to pull too hard; the paper may tear, making it more difficult to remove.) If paper is still jammed inside the mechanism, open the cover to remove it.
Insert the paper with the printable side up. Place the paper against the left side of the manual feed slot and insert it horizontally. Load one sheet at a time. Open the printer cover and adjust the end of the paper so that it is 1 cm from the roller.
If your printer keeps jamming, you should know that the most common cause of a jam is misalignment of the paper. Paper needs to load in smoothly, completely flush with the tray. Overfilling the tray is a great way to ensure you will be spending some personal time getting to know the inside of a printer.
Dust, paper fiber, and other debris might accumulate on the pick rollers and cause paper feed issues. To help prevent paper feed issues, clean the rollers inside the printer and in the duplexer (if equipped). If the other steps in this document fail to resolve the issue, then reset the printer.
/Paper feed button. Feeds the paper in the forward direction. When the paper is loaded in the Auto Sheet Feeder or Manual Front slot, loads the paper to the printing position automatically, and Manual Rear slot back feeds the paper.
In multifunction or all-in-one printers, fax machines, photocopiers and scanners, an automatic document feeder or ADF is a feature which takes several pages and feeds the paper one page at a time into a scanner or copier, allowing the user to scan, and thereby copy, print, or fax, multiple-page documents without having …
Using both hands, put one piece of paper in the manual feed slot until the front edge of the paper touches the paper feed roller. Once the machine has grasped the paper, let go. The side to be printed should be faced up. The machine will hold the paper in place until the print data is sent to the machine.
There are a few things that could be the cause of this problem, including: Empty ink or toner cartridges that need replacing. Ink or toner cartridges that have become dislodged from their proper place. The wrong paper size loaded in the input tray.
Printer rollers are the small circular rubber pieces that help feed printer paper through your printer. Over time, they can accumulate dust from the paper and ink residue from printing double-sided pages. To clean your printer rollers, you`ll need to first locate them in your printer.
Use isopropyl alcohol or ethanol according to the manufacturer`s safety guidelines, as applicable. Wipe the roller with a lint-free cloth dipped in isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. After cleaning the roller, make sure that no lint or other material remains on the roller.
If the paper feed rollers are dirty or paper powder is attached to it, paper may not be fed properly. In this case, clean the paper feed rollers. Cleaning will wear out the paper feed rollers, so perform this only when necessary. Make sure that the power is turned on and remove any paper from the rear tray.
There are different methods of paper feeding. With dot matrix printers, paper is often feed through pins on a wheel that grab and slowly move paper through the printer. With inkjet and other page printers, paper is fed through the printer with rollers that grab and move the paper through the printer.
Press and hold down the Cancel button for 3 seconds. When the message to reset the printer to default settings appears, press OK to reset the print settings. Note: This reset does not affect LCD contrast, Print Confirmation, or PictureMate Print Wizard settings.
Using EPSON StatusMonitor

EPSON StatusMonitor monitors the printer. If it detects a printer error, it will inform you with an error message. When the ink runs low or out, a How to button appears. Click How to, and EPSON StatusMonitor will lead you step by step through the ink cartridge replacement procedure.

Press the tiny reset button located beside the chip and hold for 10 seconds. Depending on the brand and model of the cartridge, you may not need to hold the button for 10 seconds, but it won`t harm the cartridge so do it anyway just to be safe.
Press the home button, if necessary. Select Settings > General Settings > System Administration. Enter the administrator password, if necessary. Scroll down and select Restore Default Settings.
The Power light blinks at a steady interval when the printer is processing a print job. If the Power light blinks fast, the ink cartridge door might be open, or the printer might be in an error state. If an error message displays on the computer screen, follow the on-screen messages to resolve the issue.
The most common cause of this issue is paper misalignment. Make sure you properly insert the papers in the tray and avoid overfilling the tray. If this doesn`t solve the problem, check the troubleshooting section of the printer`s user manual.
Paper pushed too far into the input tray when it is loaded, might feed into the printer incorrectly, causing the paper to tear. Paper stacks loaded into the input tray with too many or too few sheets of paper, might feed into the printer incorrectly, causing the paper to tear.
Make sure you don`t overload the tray. A good way to stop the printer becoming jammed, is to fan the paper before you put it in the tray as this will shake out any dust and reduce static, which are two major causes of paper jams. Another way to avoid a printer paper jam is to keep your machine clean.

Tray 1 (upper tray) paper feed problem
ANSWER : There is no way of adjusting the distance of lift. Could be that the pickup roller is worn enough that it will pick up a sheet that is higher, but not one that is lower down. You can look at the end of the roller that first makes contact and see if it is worn smooth.

Epson Stylus Photo R200 – flashing red lights
ANSWER : The R800 will flash the ink and paper lights alternately when the ink pads are assumed to be full from extensive head cleaning. Sometimes, if not always, the head will lock into place on the right side above the ink head cleaning sponges that release ink to the lower ink pads.To correct the problem you need to clean the sponge area, I use cotton swabs. If the head is locked to need to release the carriage lock with a screwdriver. This will require removing the cover, but not necessarily the bottom of the unit. There is a 179 page service manual available for download for $16.50. There are free downloads of this manual, but usually are missing the 100 pages. You can remove the cover by:1. Remove the three screws on the rear housing (One to the left of the power plug, one on the opposite side and one in the lower middle bottom.2. Remove the three screws inside the upper housing (Just under the lid where the hinge is).3. Remove the screw under the left and right side in back below the vents.4. In the back pull the white ribbon closest to you out of the block, do not try to remove the block itself.5. Place a screwdriver into the slot both on the right and lift of the bottom corners on the back to release the hooks that hold the upper unit.6. Lastly, put a screwdriver into the notches on the bottom of the printer located in the front right and left, they are spring loaded.7. Remove cover.8. The head lock release screw is in the right side of the printer and is partially covered by the lower housing. I drilled a half inch hole into the side as to be able to insert a screwdriver. Turn the screw to the left and the head will rise out of the locked position. You only need to turn enough to release the head.9. Clean the sponges and any areas you see with excess ink.10. Place the cover on the unit enough to plug the white ribbon back in and turn the unit on.If the printer lights stop flashing then you are all set.

Paper feeds straight through without printing on an Epson R2400
ANSWER : I was able to get it to print the internal test page by holding down the sheet paper feed button while turning the machine on — then continuing to hold the sheet paper feed button. It took several attempts, feeding a page straight through, but eventually it caught the sheet and printed. So it may be a timing issue as others have mentioned. It could still mean that the feed rollers are worn out. The back side of the large D-shaped feed roller has visible abrasion on it. The abrasion is difficult to see as the roller does not stay with the flat side exposed.

Epson R2000…. Real JUNK?
ANSWER : you can go to ebay and get a tool to reset any (almost) epson printer i use it on my r2000…..these printers are a major workhorse ive had mine for 12 year of constant printing thats not to say there is no maintenance ylu can set up an external wastebin for ink overflow and that way that tiny pad does not take the brunt of the print production. periodically (every couple of years) i pull all carts or your ciss depending upon your ink source and thoroughly clean the machine from the top down go easy on the foam strip right after the rollers or you will tear it. i use windex and it works great with a syringe and a piece of rubber hose the correct size to flush where the carts or ciss connect to the print heads to flush them out of cruddy old ink debris. 12 years ago i bought three of these i use one with carts (refillable) and another ciss. they are anything but junk. i believe the source of your problem is a bad cart source- non oem is hit and miss at best, keep trying different sources and you will find one find one that works. im not trying to pimp any vendors but if you continue to have problems i would be happy to tell you where i get my products good luck to you! oh yes my third r2000 is still wrapped in plastic new in the box!
