To find out which cartridge requires replacing, see Using the printer`s control panel, or check EPSON Status Monitor 3 (for Windows) or EPSON StatusMonitor (for Macintosh). Caution: Do not move the print head by hand, as this may damage the printer. Always press the ink cartridge replacement button to move it.
Each printer in the Epson cartridge range uses a different type of printer cartridge and cannot work with any other in the Epson printer range other than that which is assigned to it.
Each toner cartridge typically has a number printed on it somewhere. You can remove the cartridge from the printer to find this number. Alternatively, you can look for the cartridge number or type in your printer`s manual or online by doing a search for your printer`s model number.
The ink cartridge`s number is also printed within your printer`s manual. Look for the number next to the wording “Cartridge number” or “Cartridge type.” Write down the numbers on a piece of paper or take the manual with you to the store so you can locate the ink cartridge quickly.
Your Epson printer may have failed to recognize the new ink cartridge, or its ink level system has read it as empty. For numerous Epson printer models, there`s a way to bypass this built-in ink checking system through a quick cartridge reset. Raise the printer`s top cover and then hold the Ink button.
What printers use Epson 522 ink bottles? The Epson EcoTank printers that use the T522 ink series are the ET-2720, ET-2800, ET-2803, ET-4700, and ET-4800 models.
This is because of the chips on the ink cartridge, each chip is programmed to allow inks to only work with certain printers. Therefore, you are unable to use a different number ink in your printer which is not compatible with your printer.
The serial number can be found on the outer box and on the toner cartridge.
Ink streaks, leaks or toner dust are telltale signs that a cartridge may be a counterfeit product.
The two types of printer cartridges are ink and toner cartridges. Ink cartridges are used predominantly in inkjet printers whereas toner cartridges are used in laser printers.
A cartridge is a small, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. Many pen brands use their own proprietary style, but there is one common style called Standard International, where many pen makers use the same type of cartridge.
Multi-Ink Printer Cartridges Explained

Multi-ink cartridges usually contain cyan, magenta, and yellow inks.

When color ink is expended and black ink still remains, you can continue printing for a short time using only black ink. However, you should replace the expended ink cartridge(s) as soon as possible.
The quick answer is: Yes, you can (if you own a printer model that allows it) — but you shouldn`t keep printing with an empty cartridge for too long. Why? Because running on an empty cartridge for too long can cause your printhead to overheat resulting in irreversible printer damage.
However, almost all ink and toner cartridges can be recycled and reused, allowing business to prevent waste and save money at the same time.
Your printer may not recognize the new ink cartridge, or the ink counter may read it as empty. Many printers have a cartridge reset feature that forces the machine to recognize the cartridge as new.
If your PC or the LCD screen on your printer is telling you that your ink cartridges are full but no ink is passing through to the paper, then it`s most likely that you are dealing with a clogged printhead. Blurry documents and images that appear faded are also signs that it`s time to remove the excess ink.
Check the ink levels

Sometimes, the printer may not print black ink because it is low or empty. You can check the ink levels on the printer`s display, or by using the software that came with your printer. If the ink level is low, replace the cartridge or refill it according to the manufacturer`s instructions.

How much ink is in a cartridge? The amount of ink in a cartridge varies from 8 ml to 127 ml depending on your inkjet printer.
Printer manufacturers include expiration dates so consumers are encouraged to use their ink before it becomes susceptible to clogs or print quality issues. Dates are commonly found on the side of the printer cartridge or on the side of the cartridge box.
If one cartridge is running low, you do not have to replace the other colors at the same time. However, you do need to have all of the printer cartridges installed in the printer for it to work.
Compatible cartridges are meant to fit into inkjet printers instead of cartridges made specifically for the printer by companies such as Epson, HP, Lexmark, Canon and others.

Did a test print and the problem was back. Repeated a few times with the problem reocccuring. Switched out the cartridge. no better and now the printer doesn’t recognize its own brand cartridge. Yet, it accepts the 3rd party one.
