And rest assured; your treasured memories will last for generations as photos printed with Claria Premium Ink will last up to 300 years in a photo album*.
With three individual dye-color ink cartridges (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow) and one pigment Black ink cartridge, this Claria Ink set delivers vibrant color and sharp text for long-lasting, high-quality results. Epson printing system is designed to be used exclusively with Epson Genuine Cartridges.
Claria ink is smudge, scratch, water, and fade resistant on Epson photo papers. For CDs/DVDs, the ink is resistant only on specially-treated discs.
Designed for EcoTank® Photo supertank printers, this high-capacity 6-color ink set offers Claria ET Premium Inks for smooth gradations and accurate color reproductions. Featuring dye-based Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Gray and Photo Black ink, it also includes a pigment Black for crisp, sharp black text.
(3) Epson DuraBrite pigment inks generally are not reasonably fade-resistant / archival.
To be designated as archival grade ink, the ink must demonstrate two things: the ability to resist fading, and the ability to remain firmly on the page. With the passage of time, normal ink will begin to fade. Most black ink will turn brown, first, before completely disappearing from the page.
Epson Archival Black Ink Cartridge for Epson Stylus Pro 10000 and 10600 Printers engineered to give you optimum photographic output, these Archival pigment inks provide superior resistance to water, fading and smudging.
Designed with longevity in mind, the high-quality ink can last for 300 years in a photo album*. *Print permanence ratings are based on accelerated testing of prints on specialty media stored in archival sleeves in album storage.
Dye ink uses colour substances that are dissolved in a liquid while pigment ink uses small colour particles that are held in a suspension. The water soluble dye can be seen as sugar that dissolves in water and the pigments as sand mixed in water.
Fortunately, ink jet colorants (dye and pigment) are very stable and typically can last 100+ years at room temperature, so dark fade is usually not a limiting permanence factor for ink jet photo prints as long as high-quality paper is used.
Best Overall: Epson SureColor P700
The P700`s uses Epson`s 10-ink UltraChrome PRO10 pigment ink set, which produces a stunning range of color for both landscapes and portraits. The P700 has professional-level features, but you don`t need to be a print wiz to use them.
It also has durable output as pigment inks don`t smudge and are lightfast- ideal for photos that will be on display. Pigment ink also gives consistent results with all finishes of media including gloss, matte, lustre or even fine art canvas.
Epson Printer Doesn`t recognise a new cartridge
This is to ensure it has clicked in place properly. If this doesn`t work, remove and inspect the cartridge chips. Clean away any dirt or ink that may be preventing it from being recognised. Refit and check if this has solved the problem.
All cartridges must be installed with ink for printing and printer maintenance. For print quality, some ink remains in replaced cartridges. Designed for EPSON cartridges only: Other brands of ink supplies are not compatible and, if described as compatible, may not function properly or continuously.
Epson DURABrite™ Ultra is a full pigment ink set. As opposed to dye-based inks which are solutions of water-soluble colour dyes, pigment inks are liquid colloids of opaque microscopic coloured particles suspended in a fluid known as a “binder” or “vehicle”.
The chemical analysis of writing and printing inks, as well as paper, can be invaluable when trying to prove whether a document is fraudulent. Ink dating is a highly specialized forensic examination and considered to be one of the most accurate and reliable methods to help determine the age of a document.
Archival Inks provide long lasting results and are permanent on many surfaces. Create crisp, waterproof stamped images that won`t bleed when used with water-based inks.
Not all printers use the same ink. Inkjet printers and laser printers differ because one uses liquid ink and one uses toner powder. Similarly, not all inkjet printers are the same in that some inkjet printers use dye-based ink and some use pigment-based ink.
Epson DURABrite inks ensure water-resistant, light-resistant, smudge-resistant results to preserve cherished photos and important documents.
They`re not archival but neither will they fade away anytime soon. Dye-based inks can last for decades if hung well away from direct sunlight. If you intend to produce cheaper open edition prints, the ET 8550 should be fine. The P700 uses pigment inks only, and on that level, it`s a much higher-end printer.
Question: Why are Epson UltraChrome K3 prints color stable? We are using 100% pigment based ink technology – not dye.
Because pigment inks are not easily removed by water, greater care is needed when using these inks in a fountain pen. The ink must be cleaned regularly to avoid the build-up of pigment particles in the pen between uses. The water-soluble properties of dye inks, on the other hand, vary widely from one ink to the next.
Since pigment inks are fade-resistant when exposed to sunlight, water-resistant, smudge-resistant, and long-lasting, it`s one of the highest quality ink choices available and referred to as “archival quality” due to its propensity to last a long time and its suitability for museum materials.
Pigment Ink: IZINK Pigment Inkpad (Aladine)
Pigment ink is slow-drying, and dries on top of your cardstock or paper, rather than absorbing into it. This means that the colours tend to be more vibrant, and as the ink dries it will not change the shade of the stamped image.
