How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?
Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced technical support :
If the ink level is sufficient, but the printer still does not print black ink, you may need to run a cleaning cycle. A cleaning cycle is a process that cleans the printer heads and removes any clogged or dried ink.
Fix this problem by removing the cartridge and injecting more ink into the sponge through the exit hole. Air bubbles also can get trapped inside the cartridge, blocking ink flow. Allow the cartridge to sit unused for about an hour to give the bubble a chance to dislodge by itself.
Access the print settings in your print application. Click the Main tab. Select Plain Paper/Bright White Paper or Envelope as the paper type setting. Select the Black/Grayscale checkbox.
If your printouts are blurry or smeared, try these solutions: Make sure your paper is not damp, curled, old, or loaded incorrectly in your product. Use a support sheet with special paper, or load special paper one sheet at a time. Place a piece of black paper on the back of the original and copy it again.
If your PC or the LCD screen on your printer is telling you that your ink cartridges are full but no ink is passing through to the paper, then it`s most likely that you are dealing with a clogged printhead. Blurry documents and images that appear faded are also signs that it`s time to remove the excess ink.
The ink cartridges may not have been installed using the correct procedure, or they may not be seated correctly. Follow the instructions below to correctly install and reseat the ink cartridges. Note: This product is designed to use only genuine Epson-brand ink cartridges.
If the ink still smears when printing, try some of the following suggestions: Decrease the amount of time it takes for the ink to dry by decreasing the print quality to Normal or Fast mode. Try printing on a different type of paper or on paper from another manufacturer.
Method 1 – Bypassng Ink Cartridge on Epson Printer
After opening the lid, hold the ink button down. When you find the ink holer is moving to its position, then open the cartridge`s lid which is having no ink. Close it again without removing the cartridge. Close the lid and start to print.
To select supported Black Print Mode settings, you must first enable the option for Black Print Mode. To do this, open \Applications\Epson Software\Epson Printer Utility 4\Driver Settings and click into the check box beside Permit temporary black printing.

epson xp-600 black ink
ANSWER : Epson printers are relentless for this. What happens is they often run out of ink quickly as they seem to eat up a lot of it. People often procrastinate buying the inks because they are expensive, the print head has drying ink in all of the small holes on the head. This glops up the very small holes and that’s where you get the lines.

Epson Artisan 837 Cyan Ink Blotches-leaking
ANSWER : Just encountered same problem (with light magenta) and discovered it was my own fault! There’s an adhesive-backed piece of aluminum foil that serves as one wall of the ink channels in the white plastic transition junction where it connects to the printhead. In trying to clean the printhead, I apparently nicked that foil, but didn’t notice when I reassembled, so I created a real mess in the printer. I cleaned everything up and then carefully (to cover the damage but not plug the ink channel) smeared a light coating of Goop household cement over the nicked hole, let it cure for about 6 hours, put everything together, and the leaking stopped.
