How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

If your Epson printer is printing out faint images, skipping lines, or is streaking your image with lines, chances are you have a clogged nozzle–a common problem many users have with Epson printers. It`s unavoidable that print heads clog over time as small amounts of ink residue dry up and collect in the nozzles.
The ink levels may be low and you may need to refill the ink. Visually check the ink levels. Also make sure you filled the tanks with the correct colors of ink. After you print, the colors in your printout need time to set as the ink dries.
If you notice white or dark lines in your prints (also called banding), try these solutions before you reprint: Run a nozzle check to see if any of the print head nozzles are clogged. Then clean the print head, if necessary. Make sure the paper type setting matches the type of paper you loaded.
Why is my printer printing yellow not red? It is most likely that your image is yellow where you were expecting it to be red and you may also notice that blue parts of the image appear turquoise instead. Both of these effects are caused by a lack of magenta ink/toner on your prints.
Banding can occur if you use inkjet media that isn`t compatible with your printer and ink. Other possible causes of banding include: (1) using the incorrect media settings in the print software; (2) misaligned printheads; and (3) clogged nozzles in the printhead.
Banding can be created when there isn`t enough tonal range to represent all the different colors between the brightest and the darkest points of a gradient. The tonal range is given by the number of bits. An 8-bit photograph will have 256 tonal values per color and a 16-bit one has 65,536.
Make sure the Black/Grayscale or Grayscale setting is not selected in your printer software. Run a nozzle check to see if any of the print head nozzles are clogged. Then clean the print head, if necessary. The ink cartridges may be old or low on ink, and you may need to replace them.
Print a Nozzle Test pattern, if the yellow is orange then you have cross contamination in the Printhead and it might be purgeable, but you would have to print a lot of yellow. Cross contamination happens when some ink oozes out of one printhead and is wicked up into another color.
A: The yellow toner or white powder functions as a coating designed to lubricate the internal components of the toner cartridge upon start up. Q: Why specifically is the color yellow or white used? A: Yellow or white is used because it blends in easily with other colors.
This issue is called “color banding” and it happens when values within a gradient get pushed so much that there is no color/value in the file to actually represent the mathematical change you`ve applied with a tool in Photoshop. Basically, when this happens it means you are hitting the boundaries of your file.
Banding is caused by the harder rollers being less water-receptive than softer ones, non-alcohol solutions having a harder time adhering to their surfaces. The solution is to use softer rollers, such those possessing a durometer of 18:22.
Epson printers function very well at 1440 dpi, and in general this should be the default setting.
In many cases, the best resolution for printing is 300 PPI. At 300 pixels per inch (which roughly translates to 300 DPI, or dots per inch, on a printing press), an image will appear sharp and crisp. These are considered to be high resolution, or high-res, images.
Low ink or toner levels. Toner sticking to the fuser roller or problems with the transfer roller. Low ink or toner density settings. Low or high humidity.
If your printouts are blurry or smeared, try these solutions: Make sure your paper is not damp, curled, old, or loaded incorrectly in your product. Use a support sheet with special paper, or load special paper one sheet at a time. Make sure your paper meets the specifications for your product.
Although CMYK is utilized for printing, RGB is more efficient for other jobs as it is versatile and can display more colors. CMYK can only print 70% of the colors that are available in RGB. CMYK cannot produce most of the vibrant colors.
The main reason this occurs is because the brightness level on the computer monitor is too high. It`s common with newer monitors, many of which are designed for gaming and have their brightness levels set higher by default.
Banding is chunky bands of uneven color across your screen, making some areas of the screen look brighter than others.
band printer (belt printer) A type of impact line printer in which the font – characters and timing marks – is etched on a steel band. The operating principle, involving horizontal movement of the font, is similar to that of the earlier chain printer and train printer.
Banding functions are used to group data on a report so that it is both more comprehensible and aesthetically pleasing than when it is displayed as one contiguous list. MicroStrategy provides different banding options for you to use, depending on how you want to divide your data.
Banding is the process of one or more product being wrapped with a thin band of paper or film. An efficient way to bundle, label or seal your products.
One of the most common symptoms of an inkjet cartridge running low on ink is faded or faint color in image prints. You may notice a visible decrease in the intensity or brightness of a color. At times, colors in image prints may change completely.
Replace any low, empty or faulty ink cartridges on your printer. Dust or paper residue on the rollers or separator pad inside the automatic document feeder (ADF) can result in copy quality issues.
Your Epson printer may have failed to recognize the new ink cartridge, or its ink level system has read it as empty. For numerous Epson printer models, there`s a way to bypass this built-in ink checking system through a quick cartridge reset. Raise the printer`s top cover and then hold the Ink button.

Paper feeds straight through without printing on an Epson R2400
ANSWER : I was able to get it to print the internal test page by holding down the sheet paper feed button while turning the machine on — then continuing to hold the sheet paper feed button. It took several attempts, feeding a page straight through, but eventually it caught the sheet and printed. So it may be a timing issue as others have mentioned. It could still mean that the feed rollers are worn out. The back side of the large D-shaped feed roller has visible abrasion on it. The abrasion is difficult to see as the roller does not stay with the flat side exposed.
