In many cases, the best resolution for printing is 300 PPI. At 300 pixels per inch (which roughly translates to 300 DPI, or dots per inch, on a printing press), an image will appear sharp and crisp. These are considered to be high resolution, or high-res, images.
Let`s say, for example, you want to make a 5” x 7” print (sometimes erroneously referred to as 5 x 7 pixels). A good quality print will require a resolution of 900 x 1260 pixels. For a better-quality print, use 1200 x 1680 pixels. Finally, for the best quality, you should go with 1500 x 2100 pixels.
Epson printers function very well at 1440 dpi, and in general this should be the default setting. The 2880 dpi setting is overkill for almost all jobs. Its improvement in image detail is essentially imperceptible, and it slows the printer considerably.
Remarkable Quality and Speed. The L3100 prints at a high printing resolution of 5760 dpi, delivering exceptionally high quality prints for all your needs.
