Solution. There are several reasons for Error 5100 to appear, including a paper jam, an improperly seated ink tank, and more. Encoder (Timing) Strip on the printer needs cleaning. Manual cleaning can be done on some models.

Open the Embedded Web Server (EWS) by opening an Internet browser page, type the IP of the printer on the address bar and press Enter. The web page of the printer will pop-up. Click Networking tab, change the required IP address, subnet mask, and gateway.

Common causes include dust and grime, worn rollers, or inappropriately weighted paper. Prevent paper jams by regularly cleaning your printer and replacing parts as needed. Check the weight of paper that your printer is rated for as well. The printed product is faded.

If your printer`s status displays “Printer in error state,” there may be a problem with the printer itself. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your PC by Wi-Fi or cable. Check it for low paper or ink, and be sure the cover isn`t open and the paper isn`t jammed.

To change your printer IP address, type its current IP address into the address bar of a web browser. Then go to the Settings or Network page and change your printer`s network to a static/manual IP address. Finally, type in the new IP address.

Click the Start, Control Panel, Printers, and Faxes. Right-click the printer driver and select Properties. Click Ports, Add port, Standard TCP/IP port, New port, and click Next the TCP/IP printer port wizard to provide the IP Address of the printer. Click Next and Next again.

Turn the product on while you press and hold the Resume button for 10-20 seconds. The Attention light turns on. Release the Resume button. The Attention and Ready lights cycle while the product restores factory defaults.

On the device control panel, press Menu/Enter. Use the < or the > button to select Service, and then press Menu/Enter. Use the < or the > button to select Restore defaults, and then press Menu/Enter. The device automatically restarts.

Restart your printer by turning it off, waiting 10 seconds, and disconnecting the power cord from your printer. Then, turn off your computer. Connect the printer power cord to the printer and turn the printer back on.
