Brother DCP 7065DN
I am trying to get a Brother DCP 7065 to work. It will try to pick up a piece of paper then it errors out and says” no paper, reload paper then press restart. ” I have cleaned the pickups and they seem fine. The paper will go up slightly into the printer but it doesn’t make it to the toner cartridge. You can manually insert the paper up into the area it would be pulled into the printer and pass the paper through but there are no jams. You can also insert the paper manually on the front and it prints fine. a Are there take aparts of this printer online? I think it could be something to the paper sensor but have no idea how to get to it. Anyone ever fix this and what needed to be done.

Experienced technical support provide their insights in answering this question :
I had the same problem on another Brother model last week. I don’t know if yours works the same, but here’s what I did. If you pull out the paper tray, there is a feed roller in the middle that is right after the pickup roller. In a really stupid design feature, Brother made it so that the tray has to be in to engage this feed roller. Under the left cover, there was a small arm with a gear on it that broke off. This gear engaged the roller when the tray closed. I put the arm and gear back in place and fixed it into place so it would engage the gear but not fall off again. Printer worked fine afterwards.

How to Identify and Fix Common printer Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced technical support :

Cause 1: The photo bypass tray is located at the wrong position. Cause 4: Paper dust has accumulated on the surface of the paper pick-up rollers. Cause 6: The paper tray was not fully inserted. NOTE: Illustrations shown below are from a representative product and may differ from your Brother machine.
Refill the paper in the paper tray and press Black (Mono) Start or Color (Colour) Start or Start. Remove the paper and load it again. Then press Black (Mono) Start or Color (Colour) Start or Start. If the problem is not resolved, the paper pick-up roller may need to be cleaned.
“No Paper Fed [MP Tray]” will occur when your machine is trying to print from the MP Tray but the paper isn`t loaded, or the paper can`t be pulled through.
The common reasons for this issue are various, for instance, the paper input tray is overloaded, dust or moisture can affect the paper feed or paper pick rollers, the printer driver is old, etc.
If roll paper does not feed, cut the end straight across and uncurl it by rolling it backward, if necessary. Then reload the paper. If thick media does not feed, make sure you are loading it straight into the product, not at an angle. If paper jams when you print on both sides of the paper, try loading fewer sheets.
Clean the Paper Pick-up Rollers (1) with a soft lint-free cloth moistened with water. Slowly turn the rollers so that the whole surface is cleaned. After cleaning, wipe the rollers with a dry, soft lint-free cloth to remove all moisture. Slowly push the paper tray completely into the machine.
With dot matrix printers, paper is often feed through pins on a wheel that grab and slowly move paper through the printer. With inkjet and other page printers, paper is fed through the printer with rollers that grab and move the paper through the printer.
The optical sensor reads the unique media `signature` of the paper by measuring inherent optical properties and comparing them with the signatures of other papers. Once the paper is identified, the printer optimizes printing for the particular paper type.
The transfer belt rolls the paper through the printer giving it a positive charge. As it passes the drum, the negatively charged toner is attracted to the page in the shape of your print. The toner is then melted to the paper by hot rollers called the fuser unit, and voila, your page is printed.
The message “No Paper” will appear on the LCD display if the Brother machine does not detect paper in the paper tray(Tray#1 or Tray#2) or MP(Multi-purpose) Tray. Resetting the Brother machine may resolve this issue.
