HP DesignJet 4000

Experienced technical support provide their insights in answering this question :
I know this is a very old post, but I haven’t been able to find any information regarding how to disassemble this duplexer. The 6 screw’s easy, but how do you “prise” off the left cover? If I do it wrong, I know I will break one or more molded hooks on the cover. Can someone please help?

How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced technical support :

Open the top cover. Open the carriage cover and remove all printheads. Unplug the power cable from the printer. Clean the electrical contacts on the carriage and the printheads using a lint-free cloth (such as a coffee filter), lightly dampened with water.
The sponge end of a blocked printer head can be cleaned with only one liquid other than water. This liquid is isopropyl alcohol. Isopropyl alcohol isn`t strong enough to melt the sponge but is still strong enough to dissolve the ink inside the blocked printer head.
Soak the Printhead

Fill a bowl with warm water (or a mixture of water and vinegar to clean the printhead) and place the printhead directly in it. Let it sit for five minutes or so. Pull the printhead out of the water and use a lint-free cloth or paper towel to remove the dried ink.

A printhead can usually be cleaned in one of two ways: through software on your PC or manually by taking out the printhead.
If you find that the printed image is unexpectedly faint or dots in the printed image are missing, you may be able to solve these problems by cleaning the print head, which ensures that the nozzles are delivering ink properly.
Find the printhead drop detector beside the stored printhead carriage. Remove any debris blocking the printhead drop detector. With a dry lint-free cloth, wipe the surface of the drop detector to remove any non-visible debris. Close the window.
For cleaning, HP recommends using HP Equipment Cleaning Wipes, but you can use an HP-approved lint-free wipe and deionized or distilled water. Note: If dark spots appear on back side of prints, clean drum screen. Note: If minilab prints more than 2000 prints each day, clean drum screen up to twice daily.
Reasons why your HP printer has ink but won`t print

This may seem obvious, but it sometimes happens: first make sure your paper tray has paper in it. Misalignment, clogged printheads, faulty data communication or insufficient ink levels can also be sources of the problem.
