There may be two reasons for this: Your computer monitor has not been calibrated and profiled so it has a yellow cast and when you make corrections to you images, the results show a blue cast. You have not calibrated your printer recently and it is causing the blue shift.
If documents that you have scanned are printing with a blue background, you will need to calibrate the machine from within the printer driver. Click here for instructions on how to calibrate the machine. Follow the instructions below for your operating system.
Black-and-white printing may use ink other than black ink depending on the type of printing paper or the settings of the printer driver. So, color ink is consumed even when printing in black-and-white.
Even when you are printing black text only, a small amount of color ink is used to keep the print head charged. The print head needs to be kept charged to prevent air bubbles from entering and damaging the print head.
To simplify, here is what is happening; When printing from Preview and the paper type is specified as Photo OR if Photo is selected from the printer keypad, the pic will come out blue. Only if Preview Print AND the printer paper specified from the keypad are set to plain paper will the pic come out black.
In particular, tinting occurs when particles of ink pigment bleed into the fountain solution, and are transferred to the non-image areas of the plate, printing as a colored tint.
Some Canon printers use a black and tri-color cartridge and some use individual ink cartridges. Both types of cartridges deliver the same high print quality that you expect from Canon, but many consumers prefer individual ink cartridges since they offer more flexibility and a better long-term savings.
As long as your printer also has a colour cartridge, all the colours from the colour cartridge will print together to make … BLACK.
Students, Studiers, Memorizers Alike: Blue is a cool, calming color and contrasts well, though not jarringly, against black. This means if you`re reviewing printed text, which is usually black, and you make notes in blue, your notes stand out more on the page—and in your head on test day.
For example, if you mainly print black and white text, then using the monochrome setting or investing in a monochrome printer is the best choice. Grayscale printing is better for black-and-white images, because of this setting`s ability to create various contrasting shades and finer details.
For printing black and white only black color ink or toner is required cyan use for color printing..
The most common reason would be cataracts, the kind that are called “brunescent cataracts”. The dark brown color that these kinds of cataracts develop filters out the blue-green wavelengths of light. Thus, navy blue looks black.
Thus, for an easier-to-read image, drawings started having a solid white background, and blue lines delineated the image. The process, however, changed very little: Instead, only the lines drawn on the original appeared on the copy.
Monitors use RGB whereas printers use CMYK. This means that RGB colour mode is best for digital designs, while CMYK is best for print materials. You can switch your colour guide to CMYK, but it still won`t be an exact representation of your printed product as the colours can depend on the printer.
Check the Ink Cartridge Installed. One of the most common reasons behind color printing issues in the Canon printer is an empty cartridge. You should first check whether your cartridge still has ink. First, open the printer`s front door and remove the cartridge slowly and carefully.
The ink cartridges may be old or low on ink, and you may need to replace them. Your printed colors can never exactly match your on-screen colors. However, you can use a color management system to get as close as possible. Try using the color management options in your printer software.
As the pH shifts past 4.5 to 5.0 or higher, the gum in an acid etch becomes ineffective and unable to protect and desensitize the printing plate. This causes toning and extreme sensitivity of the plates during shutdowns.
You can only install two black ink cartridges if your printer uses two different types of black ink. If you are trying to install a black ink cartridge in a color cartridge slot, your printer will not function and you could potentially cause damage to the machine.
If you want to print using only the black ink or the color ink cartridge, follow the steps below. Open the printer driver setup window. Click Print Options… on the Page Setup tab. Select the ink cartridge(s) to be used for printing and click OK.
Just above the circuit board on most printer cartridges, you`ll find a small button. You`ve seen these tiny buttons before on cell phones, phone chargers, etc. This is your reset button, and the only way to get in there is either with a paper clip or the tip of a pen (which will leave a tiny ink smudge on the button).
When you mix green, red, blue, and yellow ink, each ink that you add absorbs more light. That leaves less light to reflect to your eye. Since the mixture absorbs many colors of light and reflects very little, you end up with black.
Click Advanced, and select Output on the left side of the dialog box. Choose a composite option from the Color menu. Specify other color and output settings, and click OK.
Printers that use two cartridges (one black, one tri-color) can print if one cartridge is empty. To continue printing, remove the empty cartridge from the printer. If a Single-cartridge mode message displays, select OK. If you are using the black cartridge, prints are in black and white (grayscale).

Canon Pixma MP610 won't print in black
ANSWER : Printer cleanings use wet ink to clear dried up ink. Yeah, that works real well. The best way to clean the heads is remove all the ink tanks. Next to the tanks on the right, there is a plastic release lever. Pull up on it and it will release the heads. Reach in and pull them out. Take the heads over to the sink and run hot tap water into the screen for the black and then turn it over and run it over the heads on the bottom. Repeat a few times and reinstall.
