Once the printer believes the cartridge has run out of ink you will be presented with either the E13 message or the E16 message that indicates that you need to change the ink cartridge. If this message is being displayed on your printers screen then your printer will stop printing and scanning.

An E9 error occurs when the printer detects that ink system maintenance is required. An Ink System Maintenance page prints containing instructions to open and close the printhead access door to resolve the error.
The Canon E08 error message indicates that the “Ink absorber is almost full” in the bottom of your printer. To bypass this message you can simply press the black or colour button of your printer which will allow you to continue printing.
An E5 or E6 error occurs when the scanner or printer is in an error state. Reset the printer. With the printer on, disconnect the power cord from the printer. Unplug the power cord from the power source.

Canon PIXMA MP800 Error 6A00
ANSWER : I also had the 6A00 Error on my aging MX7600. The pushing-the-sponge-down trick did not work for me. What finally did work involved a part just to the right of the sponges that the print head parks over. Its a white plastic piece, Mine was stuck in a forward position. After much poking around in there, I realized that this piece can slide toward the rear of the machine. And for me, that was what had to happen to get past the error message. Just pushed it toward the rear as far as it would go, slide the print head back in place and it finally started up normally again. I hope this helps anyone out there who might still have one of these still working.

Canon Pixma iP3000 "Open door" Error code.
ANSWER : Look for a protruding plastic on the top that goes into an indentation. Mine was in the front left side. Put a piece of cardboard into the indentation.and close the door.
