The easiest way to connect the Canon printer to the computer is via a USB cable. It`s the traditional method of connecting devices. One end of the USB remains connected to the printer, and the other must be connected to the computer`s USB port.
Restart your computer – this often will recover any lost connections with wireless devices. Power off and on the printer, and even the access point or wireless router your printer connects to. Check your printer configuration – you may not be assigned to the correct port for the printer.
Your printer should have been packaged with a USB cable regardless of whether it is a wireless or wired printer. Plug the cable into your printer and your computer`s USB port. The direct linking should trigger your computer to recognize the printer and start up the software needed to complete the installation.
The printer supports 3 connection methods. USB, Ethernet or Wireless. None of them depend on or require a internet connection to function. Without internet, you will not be able to use any cloud based features like scan to email, but printing and scanning to / from devices on a local network is possible.
Setup the Wireless Connection Using WPS
If you have a Wireless access point or router that supports WPS, you can easily connect your Canon wireless printer to your home network. (A). Tap Wi-Fi.
It could be due to a loose USB or network cable connection, outdated printer drivers, issues with the printer spooler service, or even wireless connectivity problems.
Simply turn the printer off with the power button on the printer. Once turned off, disconnect the printer`s power cord from the back of the printer. Wait approximately 30 seconds before you reconnect it. Once reconnected, use the printer`s power button to turn the printer back on.
Check1 Make sure that the printer is turned on. Check2 Make sure that the Wi-Fi lamp is lit on the front side of the printer. If the Wi-Fi lamp is off, Wireless LAN is inactive. To activate Wireless LAN, press and hold the RESUME/CANCEL button, then release the button when the POWER lamp flashes white 10 times.
Change your USB Cable or the USB Port Alternatively, you can also use a USB cable recommended by Canon. If it`s not the cable, then check your USB port. If your camera doesn`t connect to your PC, then try plugging it again into a different USB terminal. Most PCs and laptops feature multiple USB ports.
