Connect the USB cable to the Printer
Connect the flat end of the USB cable (1) to the computer (type-A receptacle). Connect the other end of the cable to the printer (2) (type-B receptacle). Note: The USB connector will only fit in one-direction into the type-B receptacle on the printer.

Press (Settings/Registration). Press [Function Settings] → [Printer] → [Printer Settings].
Simply plug the USB cable from your printer into an available USB port on your PC, and turn the printer on. On the taskbar, select the Search icon, type Printers in the search bar, and then select Printers & scanners from the search results to open the Printers & scanners system setting.
If you connect the printer to your computer via a USB cable, check whether the cable is properly connected. If it isn`t, re-plug it and make sure they are properly seated into the ports on both your printer and your computer. Try another USB port on your computer in case the one you previously used is broken.
A look at Canon USA`s site(Opens in a new window) shows that the vast majority of Canon printers support Windows 10. To check a particular model, click on the printer category, the model name, and then Drivers and Software. The pull-down menu will indicate whether Windows 10 is supported, and with which software.
You may need to update your printer/scanner driver. Connectivity is a possible issue – make sure any cables are secure, such as a USB connection. If your connection is wireless, be sure your Canon scanner is connecting to your WiFi – there should be an indication of communication on your scanner panel.
On computer, select Printers & Scanners in System Preferences, and then check if printer or scanner appears. If your printer or scanner does not appear, add the printer or scanner as follows. Access our website, and then download and install the printer driver or scanner driver for your printer or scanner.
Windows 10: Right-click and select Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers. Right-click your product name and select Printer properties.
Select Start > Settings . Go to Devices > Printers & scanners > select a printer > Manage.
Open the settings in your Canon EOS menu. It has Auto power off and Wi-Fi/NFC options. Disable them first and then plug the camera to the computer. Now, your Canon camera should be recognized by your Windows PC.
Change your USB Cable or the USB Port Alternatively, you can also use a USB cable recommended by Canon. If it`s not the cable, then check your USB port. If your camera doesn`t connect to your PC, then try plugging it again into a different USB terminal. Most PCs and laptops feature multiple USB ports.
