From this information your printer estimates the ink level of the cartridge and when it believes the ink cartridge is running low/empty will present you with the “Check Ink” 1686 or 1688 message.

The FINE Cartridge may not be installed properly, or the Cartridge may not be compatible with this printer. Open the Scanning Unit (Cover) and install the appropriate FINE Cartridge. After that, push the Ink Cartridge Locking Cover until it clicks into place, then close the Scanning Unit (Cover).

Just above the circuit board on most printer cartridges, you`ll find a small button. You`ve seen these tiny buttons before on cell phones, phone chargers, etc. This is your reset button, and the only way to get in there is either with a paper clip or the tip of a pen (which will leave a tiny ink smudge on the button).
On your computer, in the Windows Notification Area (bottom-right corner of your Windows desktop), right-click the printer icon. In the printer menu, select the Properties or Preferences option. In the printer settings window, the ink or toner levels are displayed for the currently-installed cartridge(s).
An Ink cartridge has not been inserted in its slot correctly: If an ink cartridge isn`t fully clicked into its designated slot, the printer can`t detect the new ink cartridge and will display an error message.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer. Unplug the power cord from the power source. Wait 60 seconds. Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.
#751. The server is not functioning. The network is not connected. (The server may be unable to connect to the network, or it may have lost the connection.)
Check for physical damage on the cartridge. Look at the print cartridge and see if there are any cracks, tears or missing elements. Any one of these can cause a failure. In these cases, you will need to purchase a new cartridge and start the refill process again after it has run out.
Paper is jammed or there`s an object inside the printer.
1. Paper Jams. Paper jams are a common problem for printers, resulting in time-consuming and frustrating delays. It can occur when loose sheets of paper get stuck in the rollers or feeding mechanism of the printer.
Verify the ink cartridge(s) is inserted properly. Some cartridges snap in place, and if they are not inserted fully, the printer won`t print anything. If a lever is moved from its original position to allow for installation of ink cartridges, ensure it is returned to its original position.
Select your printer then press “Manage” Select “Printing Preferences” Click on the “Maintenance” tab on the far right. From there you should be able to see ink levels for your selected printer.
Your printer may not recognize the new ink cartridge, or the ink counter may read it as empty. Many printers have a cartridge reset feature that forces the machine to recognize the cartridge as new.
The easiest remedy for this is to open the box and stand the cartridge upside down for a few minutes before using. Next, get a damp paper towel, fold it into quarters and the set cartridge print head down onto it, holding it there for three minutes. This will help to prime the print head and pull the ink out.
An HP ink system error can also be caused by low or empty ink or toner cartridges. If you spot an “Ink System Failure” message before discovering the error, then replace the ink or toner cartridge to resolve the problem.
Missing colours, streaky prints, smudges and ink blotches are all signs that your printer ink or toner cartridge may be damaged. Some printers will actually warn you if a cartridge is damaged and will refuse to print. This includes HP ink cartridges, Samsung toner cartridges and Canon ink cartridges.
The Maintenance tab allows you to perform printer maintenance or change the settings of the printer. Performs print head cleaning. Print head cleaning removes any blockage in the print head nozzles.
In rare cases, error 70 *1 or error 80 *1 may repeatedly display on some EOS 70D digital SLR cameras due to an internal communication failure resulting from the structure of the electrical printed circuit board.
The 5501 Support Code means an ink tank wasn`t recognized by the printer. You can check a few things to troubleshoot the error: Are you using the correct ink tank? Installing used ink tanks may clog the nozzles.
Solution. There are several reasons for Error 5100 to appear, including a paper jam, an improperly seated ink tank, and more. Encoder (Timing) Strip on the printer needs cleaning. Manual cleaning can be done on some models.
This error is caused by the chip on the cartridge still reporting the level from its previous use. Some cartridge chips cannot be reset which means when installed it will still show as empty or low ink. Replacing the cartridge is not necessary.
Error 0x0000011b usually occurs when trying to print something using a network-shared printer. Canon BJC-70 error message F 12
ANSWER : I am having the same problem, not only with my BJC-70, but also the equivalent problem with my BJC-80. Typically I am working at my computer, and the printer is powered up, but idle. All of a sudden for no apparent reason, it emits a series of beeps and returns the print head to the central position. The BJC-70 display Error F12. With the BJC80 you have to count the beeps. The problem seems to be caused by some sort of premature failure of the print head, due to an electronic fault. Sometimes, if the printer is powered down for a few minutes or longer, it will work normally for a short time after power is re-applied, but typically the problem recurs within 30 minutes, and this period of trouble free operation gradually reduces, until the print head will not work at all. The only solution is to replace the offending print head. You should, however, retain the failed head, in order to salvage any un-used ink remaining in the tanks. The new print head comes with full ink tanks. As soon as one of these fails, I replace it with an ink tank retrieved from the failed head. I don’t discard the failed head until both ink tanks have been retrieved.

Error message reads remove and check right cartridge
ANSWER : You can try cleaning the contacts on the back of the cartridge and the ones that they contact in the printer. Other than that, you have to replace the cartridge. I once had one that did the same thing. I swapped the cartridge with another printer of the same model and both printers worked fine. I swapped them back and the original printer got the same error. The other printer had no problem with either cartridge. I swapped them back and left them that way.
