If the nozzle check pattern does not print out properly, check if any of the missing colors are due to those color ink tanks being empty. If there is plenty of ink and the printer does not print, clean the Print Head then print the nozzle check pattern to ensure ink is ejected properly.
This most likely means that one or more of the colors are not printing correctly. The best way to find this out is to perform a Nozzle Check.
Select Canon Color Matching. From the pop-up menu, select Color Options. Then for Color Mode, select the mode that matches your purpose from among Photo Color, Linear Tone, PRO Mode, and Vivid Photo.
The ink cartridges may be old or low on ink, and you may need to replace them. Your printed colors can never exactly match your on-screen colors. However, you can use a color management system to get as close as possible. Try using the color management options in your printer software.
Make sure that none of the ink cartridges are empty. If the cyan or yellow run out, you`ll get a definite red/pink hue to the printouts. – Verify that the paper type setting in whatever application you`re using, matches the paper type you`re using.
The ink levels may be low and you may need to refill the ink. Visually check the ink levels. Also make sure you filled the tanks with the correct colors of ink. After you print, the colors in your printout need time to set as the ink dries.
Here are the most common causes of a printer printing faded text or images: Low ink or toner levels. Toner sticking to the fuser roller or problems with the transfer roller. Low ink or toner density settings.
If you`ve had your printer for a while and your print is still not bright or vibrant, it`s probably your time, temperature, or pressure. You need all three in order to sublimate on something – you need the correct time, the correct temperature, and the correct pressure.
First, check your printer settings on the file or picture your trying to print. If your page is setup to print in “grayscale” it will only print in black and white. Change the setting to “default” so it will print in color. If your settings look good from the start, the cartridge may just need to be primed.
Why is my printer printing yellow not red? It is most likely that your image is yellow where you were expecting it to be red and you may also notice that blue parts of the image appear turquoise instead. Both of these effects are caused by a lack of magenta ink/toner on your prints.

My 2550n Color LaserJet does not want to print in color
ANSWER : That model had issues with the carousel solenoid sticking. That might explain why it works after you let it sit for 10 minutes. The solenoid gets hotter with use which causes the deteriorated foam on it to become sticky and hold down the release plate instead of letting it go. This allows the carousel to spin when it is supposed to stop for each color. The solenoid is located on the right side of the printer. If you open the lid, it is just behind the opening at the top right. You need to remove the top of the printer and scrape off the goo on top of the solenoid body. I put a piece of thin sticky backed felt to replace it. Other people use electrical tape.
