How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

If you install the wrong ink cartridge in your printer, you will likely receive an error message on your printer display that prevents you from using the printer. Printers are smart and most will be able to tell right away if the wrong cartridge is installed.
If the printer says the cartridge is damaged or will still not recognise the cartridge then remove the cartridge and gently wipe the copper area or the cartridge with a dry soft cloth (the area known as the `chip`) to remove any static that may have accumulated on it and re-insert to see if it will solve the problem.
How to Reset Canon Pixma Ink Cartridge. In many cases, you can press and hold the “ok” or “resume” button on the front of the printer for about 10 seconds. This prompts resetting Canon ink cartridge and should allow you to continue printing.
The printer might display an error if the ink cartridges are not correctly installed. Remove the ink cartridges, check them for any plastic tape, reinstall the ink cartridges, and then try to print again.
If the cartridge is in the wrong position the tube will fill with the wrong color. To resolve this issue you will need to clean the print head. It may require 10 to 15 cleanings to clean the ink tubes and print head. During the cleaning process, the ink in the cartridge(s) will be consumed.
The “Incompatible Cartridge” message may signal you that the cartridge was placed in the wrong slot. In case you get such an error, make sure the cartridge model numbers match your printer model and your country/region. After that, check if they are installed correctly in the corresponding slots.
Missing colours, streaky prints, smudges and ink blotches are all signs that your printer ink or toner cartridge may be damaged. Some printers will actually warn you if a cartridge is damaged and will refuse to print. This includes HP ink cartridges, Samsung toner cartridges and Canon ink cartridges.
With the printer powered on, select Setup . Select Device settings . Scroll to the bottom of the menu list and select Reset settings.
If there is plenty of ink and the printer does not print, clean the Print Head then print the nozzle check pattern to ensure ink is ejected properly. If the problem is not resolved after performing Print Head Cleaning twice, carry out the Print Head Deep Cleaning.
If your printer is turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer. Keep the power plug unplugged for 60 seconds, reconnect the power cord to the wall, and turn on the printer. If the error persists, remove the cartridge from the printer, clean the cartridge contacts with a cloth, and reinstall the cartridges.
If you accidentally insert your inkjet`s cartridges in the wrong color slots, most printers sense the error through circuits that check installed consumables and alert you with an on-screen message. Until you correct this type of installation mixup, your printer simply won`t operate.
In short, no! Printers need specific cartridges to work, which is why we have clear listings across the website for what ink works in any printer. You cannot just use any model/brand cartridge in a printer, even if they look the same.
You`ll damage your printer

However, if you force a cartridge in place, you could damage both the cartridge and the printer. In addition, if you unwittingly switch the ink cartridges around in a printer, you could also damage your printer, or find that all your printouts will be stained.

The cartridges are not interchangeable, so be sure to put the correct cartridge in it`s corresponding slot. Insert the new cartridge into the slot and pull the latch back over the cartridge so it is secure. Close up the top of the printer and wait a few moments for the printer to initialize.
