Ink may have run out (The lamp on the ink tank flashes). If printing is in progress, you are recommended to stop printing, replace the ink tank, and then print again.
Paper output tray is closed. Feed slot cover is open. Manual feed tray is in the paper jam clearing position. Cannot print on a printable disc.
Meaning: the paper exit tray is closed / Paper jam. Solution: the paper is jammed. Remove the jammed paper, replace the paper correctly in the printer, and then press the Resume / Cancel button.

Count the flashes and take the appropriate action to correct the error. Ten flashes – Cannot perform duplex printing. The size of paper may not be compatible with automatic duplex printing. The sizes of media suitable for auto duplex printing are A4, Letter, A5, and B5.

The following ink cartridge cannot be recognized as a genuine Canon cartridge: Make sure that genuine Canon cartridges are all installed. To continue printing, install a genuine Canon cartridge. To cancel printing, click Cancel Printing.

Four flashes: Ink tank is not installed properly./Ink may have run out. If the lamp on the ink tank is not lit, the ink tank may not be installed properly. Install an appropriate canon ink cartridge.
This condition occurs when at least one ink cartridge needs attention, is faulty, incorrect, missing, damaged, or incompatible. Reseat both ink cartridges, clean the ink cartridge contacts, restart the printer, and replace one or both ink cartridges if necessary.
If your printer`s status displays “Printer in error state,” there may be a problem with the printer itself. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your PC by Wi-Fi or cable. Check it for low paper or ink, and be sure the cover isn`t open and the paper isn`t jammed.
The ink lamp is flashing. The ink is running low. Prepare a new ink tank. The resulting print quality may not be satisfactory, if printing is continued under this condition.

When you see a flashing light by data that means that a print job has been released to that printer but is still processing. This typically happens when someone is printing a larger file size job.

ANSWER : Sometimes turning off and on will allow you to print a few pages. The error is a beam detect error. The only real fix is to replace the laser scanner unit. Could be a loose connector on the scanner or DC controller from the scanner. That’s unlikely. You could try the only other free fix which is to open the scanner assy. and clean all the mirrors inside. The dust could obstruct the laser beam enough to cause the detect error.
