I followed all the online hints I could find and none worked. So I got to looking at the cartridge ink window and noticed it had a little float inside that was stuck to the bottom. I gently turned it upside down several times to let the float move to the top of the ink tank. It took several try’s but it eventually stayed up about half way. I installed the cartridge again, making sure cartridge clicked in and printer began working.

Check that you have removed all protective strips, plastic coverings and tabs from your ink cartridge. Check and make sure you use the correct ink cartridge for the corresponding Brother printer. Check and make sure that there is no dirt or smudge in the metal contacts of your ink cartridge or printer.
The toner cartridge or the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly is not installed correctly. Remove the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly. Remove the toner cartridge from the drum unit, and reinstall the toner cartridge back in the drum unit.
Remove all of the new cartridges you had installed and re-install the old (empty) cartridges that worked. Restart the printer, this should remove the not recognised error (and tell you some are empty).
First tip is resetting the printer`s memory so it can detect the data from your new cartridge. The second tip is manually cleaning your cartridges to free it from dust or debris so it can function properly. Take note that these tips for your printer not recognizing cartridges are applicable regardless of the brand.
Cartridges are typically kept flat or upside down for weeks or months before being used. As a result, the ink will settle at the other end of the cartridge and will be unable to directly feed the print head.
If the color is still not coming through, let the printer sit for about 10 minutes before running a second cleaning, this allows the ink to soak on the printhead. It might take a couple of cleanings to get a cartridge properly primed, especially if the printer has been sitting for a while.
Just above the circuit board on most printer cartridges, you`ll find a small button. You`ve seen these tiny buttons before on cell phones, phone chargers, etc. This is your reset button, and the only way to get in there is either with a paper clip or the tip of a pen (which will leave a tiny ink smudge on the button).
How can I override my HP ink cartridge? Remove and reinstall the indicated cartridge slots 2-3 times until it firmly sits in place to override the HP ink cartridge error. After doing this, turn off the printer and remove all the cartridges.
The chip is programmed to automatically reset when the cartridge reads empty in the printer, is removed, refilled with ink, and reinstalled. Upon reinserting the cartridge, the ink level will be reset to full. This style chip can NOT be manually reset.
If the printer does not detect an inserted tank or cartridge, check the ID chip on the resin tank or cartridge to ensure the chip is present and clean. A dirty or missing chip can prevent the printer from detecting the tank or cartridge. Fully remove and reinsert the resin tank or cartridge.

Epson RX620 Ink cartridges cannot be recognized
ANSWER : Hd snapping the ink cartridges in better, as per other people’s instructions, and no go. I got all frustrated, banged the printer’s side, and reposed in and out the dang cartridges and nada. Got all pissy and told the printer to Proceed with low Levels. I clicked Print and then when the epson printer icon came on, I clicked on settings and Ink supply levels. In here, it said my YELLOW ink was low, and yet on my epson printer screen, it kept saying my black levels were low. wtf. i had an extra yellow as I hadn’t changed it out with the cyan and blue and yep, all working now. geez. try your computer instead of the printer!!

Expired Ink Cartridges – Any way to move paper with old cartridges?
ANSWER : You could try disconnecting the printer from the computer. Then change the date on the panel to prior to the expiration date. That should fool it.

incompatible ink cartridge message
ANSWER : Pretty much nothing else you can do except try another new cartridge. I had 2 identical HP printers once in the shop. One of them didn’t like one of the cartridges. I swapped it over with the other printers cartridge and it was happy. So was the other printer. Swapped the cartridges back and it didn’t like it again. How do you explain that? You don’t.
