How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

Tear a single sheet of paper towel in half. Fold the sheet in half several times until it is about 1/2 inch wide. Put a few drops of distilled water on top of the paper towel and lay it in the trough under the print head,. Move the print head over the towel and let it sit for at least 15 minutes.
If your PC or the LCD screen on your printer is telling you that your ink cartridges are full but no ink is passing through to the paper, then it`s most likely that you are dealing with a clogged printhead. Blurry documents and images that appear faded are also signs that it`s time to remove the excess ink.
Remove the nozzle from the printer and place it in a shallow dish of 91% isopropyl alcohol. This type of alcohol is effective in breaking down ink clogs without disintegrating the printhead-installed cartridge`s sponge component. Soak it overnight, then dry it with a lint-free cloth.
Printheads clog due to infrequent cartridge use. If you regularly go a few weeks without printing, your cartridges will eventually dry out and need to be replaced. Cleaning the printhead can prolong your cartridge life and hopefully delay that replacement cartridge purchase!
Clogged print heads are the result of dried-up ink from lack of use, and can lead to patchy or erroneous printing. You can usually fix clogged print heads with your printer`s built-in self-cleaning software, though you may have to clean the print heads manually if that doesn`t work.
The reason behind this problem is that some of the old material remains in the extruder due to the lower temperature needs of the new material. As a result, the old filament will not melt completely, and the residue left behind may cause the nozzle to clog in the long run.
The sponge end of a blocked printer head can be cleaned with only one liquid other than water. This liquid is isopropyl alcohol. Isopropyl alcohol isn`t strong enough to melt the sponge but is still strong enough to dissolve the ink inside the blocked printer head.
Fill a bowl with warm water (or a mixture of water and vinegar to clean the printhead) and place the printhead directly in it. Let it sit for five minutes or so. Pull the printhead out of the water and use a lint-free cloth or paper towel to remove the dried ink.
Dried Ink Buildup on the Printhead

If the print cleaning cycle doesn`t work, dried ink may be the culprit. Take the printhead out and wipe the nozzles clean to remove any buildup. Depending on the model of your printer, this may be difficult—some printheads are harder to remove than others.

An error in the cartridges, the heads clogged by dry ink, a very low level in your consumables, a bad connection between the computer and the printer, a damaged cable, a jam in the print queue…, there are many reasons why your Brother printer may stop printing or print poorly even though you have not jumped the ink …
