How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

Gray (Error Diffusion) Use for photographic images or graphics. (Error Diffusion is a method for creating simulated gray images without using true gray dots. Black dots are put in a specific pattern to give the gray appearance.)
Click Device Settings tab => Device Scan Settings. The Device Scan Settings window will appear. There are four scan options: Scan to File, Scan to E-mail, Scan to OCR and Scan to Image. Click the tab for the scan option you want to configure and configure the scan settings.
Place the document to be scanned on the scanner glass (Flatbed) or Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), depending on the model of your Brother machine. Press the Scan key on the Brother machine and select Scan to PC -> File, or Scan to File.
Error diffusion works by comparing the actual colour of a pixel against its nearest colour and taking the difference between them. This difference is known as the error. Portions of the error are split between neighbouring pixels causing the error to be diffused hence the name “error diffusion”.
Dither: A screening method that uses a specific dithering pattern to yield fast processing by the RIP. Error Diffusion: Images are printed with finer details. The time required for processing by the RIP is longer than when [Dither] is used.
If you press the SCAN key on your Brother machine without any connection, the “Check Connection” will appear on your Brother machine`s LCD. Please verify your connection between your PC and your Brother machine. NOTE: Illustrations shown below are from a representative product and may differ from your Brother machine.
Failed diffusion does not mean that the technology was adopted by no one. Rather, failed diffusion often refers to diffusion that does not reach or approach 100% adoption due to its own weaknesses, competition from other innovations, or simply a lack of awareness.
Possible sources of error would be due to not measuring the amount of solution of dye used for each of the tests. Another source of error could be due to the way in which the stalks were cut. Also not using a control group to eliminate any other variables that could interfere with the experiment.
Physical and chemical laboratory experiments include three primary sources of error: systematic error, random error and human error. These sources of errors in lab should be studied well before any further action.
Dithering actually improves the audio quality of lower resolution audio by removing quantization distortion and replacing it with white noise. By applying noise, dithering turns the harsh, inharmonic distortion of quantization errors into a low-level, analog-like hiss.
Dither is low volume noise, introduced into digital audio when converting from a higher bit-resolution to a lower bit-resolution. The process of reducing bit-resolution causes quantization errors, also known as truncation distortion, which if not prevented, can sound very unpleasant.
Scan settings enable you to refine parameters in scans to meet your specific network security needs. The scan settings you can configure vary depending on the Tenable-provided template on which a scan or user-defined template is based.
Most government standards recommend 300 dpi resolution for scanning. 400dpi will provide a medium-to-high resolution image, but larger file size. Scans at 600dpi are considered high-resolution images and generally used for photos and material intended for printing.
Your Scanned Image Is Too Dark

Check the Brightness setting in Office Mode, Home Mode, or Professional Mode. See Epson Scan Help for details. Click Configuration, select the Color tab, and change the Display Gamma setting to match your output device, such as a monitor or printer.

300 dpi is a standard benchmark for an excellent print. 200 dpi will still produce a decent image. 150 dpi can be acceptable if you`re viewing the print from a few feet away.
Print, scan, and store files from virtually anywhere using select mobile apps and compatible Brother devices.
The default save location for scans is the Scanned Documents subfolder of the Documents folder. (If you want to change that manually, you can move the entire Documents folder to a new location.) Then, you can navigate to “This PC > Documents > Scanned Documents” to find the scanned files on your Windows 10/8.1/8/7 PC.
First check your connection to the scanner and computer: Make sure your scanner`s AC adapter is securely connected to the scanner and a working electrical outlet. Make sure the interface cable is securely connected to the scanner and your computer, and that the cable is not damaged or crimped.
Your Brother Printer could be listed as “Offline” if it is experiencing errors such as “Toner Empty” or “Paper Jam,” both of which would prevent printing. Brother recommends checking the printer`s LCD screen for any possible error messages.
Easy Scanner`s built-in advanced scanning algorithm automatically detects borders of the page, corrects perspective and distortion, eliminate shadows and set a perfect contrast for text – black on white. Upload the scans to cloud services like Dropbox, Evernote, OneDrive, Google Drive and Box.
If documents that you have scanned are printing with a blue background, you will need to calibrate the machine from within the printer driver. Click here for instructions on how to calibrate the machine. Follow the instructions below for your operating system.
Press Scan on your printer. Once you have scanned your pages, you`ll have two options: Save or Save and continue scanning. Click the Save and continue scanning option to scan multiple pages to PDF. Click the Save option and then select Save as PDF to finish.
Duplex scanning is a feature of some computer scanners, and multifunction printers (MFPs) that support duplex printing. A duplex scanner can automatically scan a sheet of paper on both sides. Scanners without this capability can only scan both sides of a sheet of paper by reinserting it manually the other way up.
Duplex scanners, also known as two-sided scanners, go a step further, enabling us to scan both sides of a document simultaneously without having to manually reinsert the document the other way up. If you regularly scan double-sided documents, a duplex scanner can offer speed, convenience, and efficiency.

BROTHER MFC 490CW/ MFC 210C
ANSWER : The industry says that at least once a month you should print something, even a test print page to avoid the ink drying up in the print heads. Most printers including Brother will turn themselves on occasionally to clean themselves. I do not recommend refilling your ink cartridges yourself. You can buy ‘non-OEM compatible refilled’ ink cartridges for you printers very cheaply but not all that make/sell these are of the same quality. So if this is of interest to you then you need to shop around until you find a good & reputable compatible non-OEM ink seller.
