Brother iPrint&Scan allows you to use features of your printer directly from your Android™ device, without using a computer. Download and install Brother iPrint&Scan from the Google Play™ Store. For more information, see the Mobile Print/Scan Guide for Brother iPrint&Scan (Android™).
Click “Printer” at the top of the window, and then look for a blue check mark to the left of “Use Printer Offline.” If the check mark is there, click the “Use Printer Offline” option to remove it, at which point your documents will start printing. If your documents do not print, proceed to the next step.
You first need to make sure your printer is within Bluetooth range, and then go to your phone`s settings and select `Bluetooth. ` It`s as simple as selecting your printer, and you`re done. By opening the file and selecting `Print`, you can print any document or photo stored on your device.
Check the printer connection status: Make sure the wireless signal is on, and the printer is connected to the same network as your computer or mobile device. If your printer has a light next to a Wireless icon or button , make sure the light is on. If it is off or blinks the printer is disconnected from the network.
Connect the printer end of the USB cable to the USB port on the side of the printer. *The location of the USB port differs depending on your printer. Connect the other end of the USB cable to the USB port on the computer. Turn on the printer by pressing the Power button.
If your printer has a USB Type-B port, you can connect a wireless printer with a USB cable.
Printers used to output documents from a computer do not require online access to operate. Provided the document or file to be printed is stored on a local hard disk drive or on the local network, it can be printed without a connection to the Internet.
Restart your mobile device and the power to your Brother machine. – Reboot the power to your router. – If you have another mobile device or computer, try installing your machine on that device and printing. This will determine if there is a problem with this device.
Check the printer connection status: Make sure the wireless signal is on, and the printer is connected to the same network as your computer or mobile device. If your printer has a light next to a Wireless icon or button , make sure the light is on.
While wireless printers don`t necessarily require a router, they do need an intermediary to facilitate communication with another wireless device.
The best AirPrint printer we`ve tested is the Brother MFC-L8905CDW, a color laser all-in-one. It has many connectivity options, including Wi-Fi, USB, and Ethernet, and it supports AirPrint, so you don`t have to install any drivers or third-party apps when printing from an iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
Use Brother Mobile Connect to print, scan, and copy, as well as manage your machine and customize its features. Set up your Brother Printer from your mobile device. Print photos and documents from your mobile device. Trim photos before printing.
Android does include basic wireless printer support, no manufacturer app required, if your printer is on the same wifi network. On Pixel devices (other Android devices will have a similar option), open Settings and then choose Connected devices, Connection preferences, Printing, and then Default Print Service.
There are at least two easy ways to print on many modern printers without a computer: memory card reader slots, and PictBridge. Printers vary in their support for different memory card readers, of course, but almost all ink jets have memory card slots to support easy photo printing.
In keeping with the times, new printers come preinstalled with software designed to make printing a breeze from a range of different tablets and smartphones. Many newer models don`t even require additional apps or software to work; you can just print directly using Apple`s AirPrint or Google Print technology.
Confirm that your printer supports AirPrint. Contact your printer`s manufacturer for details. Make sure that your iPhone or iPad and your printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and that you`re within range.
Connecting the Printer to Your Android Device

Go to Settings > Wireless & Network and turn on Bluetooth. Wait while your device scans for the printer. The printer is displayed when your device finds it. Tap the printer.

The USB port is located under the document cover.
Press and hold the WiFi button on your machine for about 2 seconds, until the light begins to blink. The WiFi button will light up when connected. You have completed Wireless Setup on your Brother machine.
Bottom line: While WiFi is the most convenient way to connect a computer to a wireless printer, it isn`t the best way unless you need to print from your mobile devices or from various locations using a laptop. When either method would work for you, it`s best to always opt for a direct cable connection.
Can I Print With Just the USB-C Cable? The USB-C is a powerful choice for moving data or powering up batteries, but it does not power the printer itself. Because of this, you can`t power a printer off a USB-C cable alone.
You can witness this by opening Device Manager and then connecting the USB cable and turning the printer on. The Device Manager will refresh letting you know that the PC has detected the presence of the USB connection, but Device Manager lists the printer as part of the “USB Virtualization Connector Driver”.
Does a USB-connected printer have an IP address? No, a USB-connected printer that isn`t connected to WiFi doesn`t have an IP. If you only print by connecting your computer directly to your printer via a USB, the device won`t have an IP because it isn`t connected to the Internet like wireless printers.
You can print directly from a USB flash drive without having to connect your computer to the printer. Here is a look at some of the best printers that can print from a flash drive.

BROTHER MFC 490CW/ MFC 210C
ANSWER : The industry says that at least once a month you should print something, even a test print page to avoid the ink drying up in the print heads. Most printers including Brother will turn themselves on occasionally to clean themselves. I do not recommend refilling your ink cartridges yourself. You can buy ‘non-OEM compatible refilled’ ink cartridges for you printers very cheaply but not all that make/sell these are of the same quality. So if this is of interest to you then you need to shop around until you find a good & reputable compatible non-OEM ink seller.
