How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced technical support :

Remove the nozzle from the printer and place it in a shallow dish of 91% isopropyl alcohol. This type of alcohol is effective in breaking down ink clogs without disintegrating the printhead-installed cartridge`s sponge component. Soak it overnight, then dry it with a lint-free cloth.
The sponge end of a blocked printer head can be cleaned with only one liquid other than water. This liquid is isopropyl alcohol. Isopropyl alcohol isn`t strong enough to melt the sponge but is still strong enough to dissolve the ink inside the blocked printer head.
You can buy a specialty printhead cleaner kit with a cleaning solution, but it`s not really necessary. For water based inks, a soap and water solution will suffice (half a cup of distilled water with a drop of dishwashing liquid and an ounce of isopropyl alcohol).
The print head cleaning and deep cleaning functions allow you to clear up clogged print head nozzle. Perform print head cleaning if printing is faint or a specific color fails to print, even though there is enough ink. If you perform deep cleaning and the condition still does not improve, perform system cleaning.
Deep Cleaning consumes a larger amount of ink than Cleaning. Cleaning the print head frequently will rapidly deplete your printer`s ink supply. Consequently, perform cleaning only when necessary.
A standard Print Head Cleaning cycle is done by clicking `Cleaning` on the Maintenance tab, then waiting a little bit until a message comes up; confirm it and click `Print Check Pattern. ` From this you can then tell what sort of Deep Clean you need to do by which lines (black or colour) are faded.
Otherwise use a printer head cleaning solution recipe of 50% water and 50% rubbing alcohol. We also like a homemade printhead cleaning solution that is 8-parts Windex to 2-parts rubbing alcohol. This printer head cleaning fluid works like a charm and it`s cheap to make!
In the majority of cases, printers` self-cleaning mechanisms clean blocked printer heads by flushing the nozzles with air. The air works to dislodge dry ink inside the cartridge channels and also push it out. The intensity of the self-cleaning process of printers is usually not very strong.

DCP 7065 paper pickup issues
ANSWER : I had the same problem on another Brother model last week. I don’t know if yours works the same, but here’s what I did. If you pull out the paper tray, there is a feed roller in the middle that is right after the pickup roller. In a really stupid design feature, Brother made it so that the tray has to be in to engage this feed roller. Under the left cover, there was a small arm with a gear on it that broke off. This gear engaged the roller when the tray closed. I put the arm and gear back in place and fixed it into place so it would engage the gear but not fall off again. Printer worked fine afterwards.
