Locate the icon for your specific Xerox printer and right click. From the drop down menu click Printer Properties. From the Printer Properties menu, select Preferences. This will display the current ink/toner levels for your Xerox printer.

This happens when the rollers or the transfer belt inside the printer get dirty or covered in excess dirt, ink or toner powder, and as the paper is moved through the printer the `tracks` are being left on the page. This is normally the case when the tracks on the page are located at either end.

A 3%/10V developer is better for intense results on a full-head coloring while adding a tint on the same lightness level as your color. To apply, mix the toner and developer with a 1:2 ratio and leave on for 45 minutes.

Most toners can be applied directly to the face with either fingers or a saturated cotton round. One to two pumps is usually enough to cover the entire area. Some toners also come in spray bottles and can be misted over the face.

As a general rule, when a printer runs out of ink or toner, it stops printing legibly. Depending on the printer model, the unit may look to replace one colour with another. For example, if you run out of black ink, your printer could replace it with blue, in order to still print the document you need.

Unlike full-color printing, which applies multiple colors in various concentrations, grayscale printing only uses black ink to compose an image.

Remember, printers use both black and colour inks when printing grayscale, so you`re not saving anything by doing so unnecessarily. Some printers will print with only a black ink cartridge installed – if your printer does this, you can technically save ink and use black ink only to print.

Using blacks in printing

100% Black (K) is mainly used for black text. Technically this standard black is set in InDesign (and other programs) to overprint backgrounds to avoid ink misregistration when the document is printed.

If you print mostly plain, colorless documents, then printing in black and white or investing in a monochrome printer is a better choice and will save money by using up less ink. Consistently printing in black and white is also a good choice if you are looking to sustain a greener office.
