The reason is that the power comes into the printer as Alternating Current (DC power). Most electronics and semiconductors use direct Current (AC power) as a power source. This is the same way a computer power supply works.
A few meters have a maximum of 1,000 volts but laser printers typically produce more than that – up to 3,000 volts is quite normal and higher voltages perfectly possible.
Most electrical machines work within the range of 110 volts and 120 volts. Some higher or more advanced electrical machines like multifunction printers or copiers require around 240 volts.
You would need a step-down transformer rated for at least 1 kVA, to be safe, I think. I suggested that the power supply might be jumper-settable for 115V / 230V.
An AC power supply is a type of power supply used to supply alternating current (AC) power to a load. The power input may be in an AC or DC form. The power supplied from wall outlets (mains supply) and various power storage devices is oftentimes incompatible with the power needed by the load.
In alternating current, the electrons don`t move in only one direction. Instead, they hop from atom to atom in one direction for a while, and then turn around and hop from atom to atom in the opposite direction. Every so often, the electrons change direction.

A power source is mandatory for all printers. Before a printer can perform any useful function, it must be turned on.
An average ink-jet which is designed for home use will typically use 30 to 50 watts when it is printing, in standby mode most printers will draw around 3 to 5 watts of power. Commercial printers which are used in an office will draw 30 to 50 watts on standby and 300 to 500 watts when printing.
A transformer is an electrical device that uses electromagnetic induction to pass an alternating current (AC) signal from one electric circuit to another, often changing (or “transforming”) the voltage and electric current.
Wire-wound transformers are used in electromagnetic voltage transformers. Because it is less expensive than an electromagnetic voltage transformer, the capacitor voltage transformer uses a capacitance potential divider and is employed at greater voltages.

The Peak current value of AC is more than DC. Most of our household appliances are inductive type. For these appliances if we use DC current then they will not work properly, that is why we use AC current for homes, offices, etc.
However, generally speaking, a central air conditioner will consume between 3000 and 3500 watts per hour. While window units use between 900 and 1440 watts per hour, portable units consume between 2900 and 4100.
Laser printers, unlike inkjet printers, do not use ink cartridges. Instead laser printers use toner cartridges, so be sure to purchase accordingly depending on your printer. Toner is a fine dye power that is melted onto the paper.
The printers laser beams your print onto a metal drum. The drum uses static electricity to attract powdered toner to the drums cylinder. The drum rolls the toner onto the paper in the form of your print. The toner is melted & pressed onto the paper by heat from a fuser as it passes through its rollers.
Calculation of output power:

By calculating the thermal energy, the output power of the laser can be obtained from the famous relationship p=w/t.

A power supply unit (PSU) is a hardware device that converts AC electricity into DC electricity and then distributes it to the rest of the computer. On a standard desktop computer, the PSU is where the power cord plugs into and usually has an I/O power switch on it.
The system unit is the computer itself. This includes all internal components and the computer`s case. It does not include external devices or peripherals such as the keyboard, monitor, mouse, or printer.
Sorry, it is not possible or practical to extract 24 Volts directly from the ATX PSU. You can`t use two of the 12V lines wired in series because they have a common ground (and actually they are from a common positive source as well).
There are three major kinds of power supplies: unregulated (also called brute force), linear regulated, and switching. The fourth type of power supply circuit called the ripple-regulated, is a hybrid between the “brute force” and “switching” designs, and merits a subsection to itself.

Dell Laser MFP 1600n constant paper jam
ANSWER : I’m having a similar issue, checked you resolution and found the little grey piece seems to be in place and able to rock back and forth. When I send a job to the printer it sounds like it is trying to pick up the paper then I get the ‘Jam 0’ error. Any ideas ?

Wont power on
ANSWER : If it is plugged into a power strip or surge protector unplug it and plug directly into wall outlet; check to make sure the power cord is fully seated where it connects to printer.
