Here are the most common causes of a printer printing faded text or images: Low ink or toner levels. Toner sticking to the fuser roller or problems with the transfer roller. Low ink or toner density settings.
The most common reason for getting faded prints is having empty or defective toner cartridges. It is unbelievably frequent that people forget to replace their empty toner cartridges and struggle to figure out why their printers print faintly. Another common reason is that people use defective cartridges.
You do not need to replace ink cartridges until you are prompted to. In general, low ink levels should not impact print quality. Your printer stops and displays a message when ink levels get too low. However, the printer might still perform a limited amount of printing in `backup mode` at low ink levels.
In the [Advanced Settings] dialog box, select [List of Settings] [Toner Density] [Adjust] → click [Details]. Adjust the density for each color → click [OK].
Printers may produce poor quality printing if they are exposed to too much heat. Don`t place your printers in a high-temperature area or near other devices that produce excess heat. In addition, keep them away from windows, where heat and humidity can be high.

The quick answer is: Yes, you can (if you own a printer model that allows it) — but you shouldn`t keep printing with an empty cartridge for too long. Why? Because running on an empty cartridge for too long can cause your printhead to overheat resulting in irreversible printer damage.
Ink cartridges can dry out over time. If they are sitting in your machine for an extended period, they will eventually dry up and become unusable. The simplest way to combat this problem is by printing more frequently or running regular cleans and ink tests to ensure the nozzles remain clean.
Print density is the measurement of light reflected off of the substrate, or how dark the print appears after each press strike. When looking at the definition of print density it is easy to see how the materials that come in direct contact with the printing surface play a crucial role in print density quality.
How do you know which developer to use with the toner? 10 volume will allow the toner to deposit more color, 20 volume will deposit less. Once you decide which toner shade and developer you will use, measure using a hair color measuring cup and mix 1 oz.
Most toners can be applied directly to the face with either fingers or a saturated cotton round. One to two pumps is usually enough to cover the entire area. Some toners also come in spray bottles and can be misted over the face.
Achieving good print quality can depend on several factors, including the printer`s maximum resolution, the quality of the original files being printed, and the number of dots the printer can produce. Other components, such as the quality of the toner or ink, can also impact print quality.
If you`re looking for high print quality, you need to make sure your images have a high DPI or PPI. DPI stands for dots per inch, and PPI stands for pixels per inch. The higher the DPI or PPI, the more detail will be visible in your printed image.
A common cause of faded, faint printouts from your inkjet printer is dried ink particles causing a blockage in your printer. The printheads on an ink cartridge can be become blocked if the printer is not used for a period of time, so it is recommended to print a few pages each month to maintain the print quality.

ANSWER : A possibility could be the Charge Transfer Roller mount on the left side broke and it’s not lifting up to push the paper up to the cartridge drum. Take the cartridge out and push down on each end and see if they respond in the same way.

Print file sent but no printing occurs
ANSWER : Been working on these since they first were released. Never seen a problem like yours. If it happens again, try doing an engine test, as it bypasses the formatter board. The engine test is located at the right side of the manual tray opening. Look for a hole in the side wall. Stick something like a paper clip into it to actuate the test button. It will then print a lined test page. If it does that, then it points to the formatter board as the cause of your problem.

when printing front and back, the front will print well but the back will fade
ANSWER : It happens because second side voltage is much higher and the board breaks. Are you getting this issue in auto duplex only, or same error you are getting when you print second side manually?

ANSWER : BTW, I took the fuser assy out and it’s sitting there, staring me in the face. Is there any thing I can do to see if it’s bad? Could this be an electronic failure? Is there anyway to get a service manual on this? (with schematics?)

ANSWER : I’ve had mine for about 15 years and she’s still goin’. First, install the driver, even if you already have. Re-install the drives. Second, open the front door, push the big blue button down for about 15 seconds while the door is open. Close the door. It should work now after these 2 fixes!
