A very common, extremely frustrating issue when it comes to copiers is the ongoing occurrence of getting lines on your copies or scans! If you are experiencing black lines on your copies when using the automatic feeder on your copy machine chances are your machine has a dirty slit glass.
These types of lines are typically caused by dirt or white out (correction fluid) on the scanner unit, or one of the corona wires for printing is dirty. This problem is usually resolved by cleaning the scanner glass, scanner glass strip and white plastic bar with a soft lint-free cloth, or cleaning the corona wires.
When your printer leaves black lines, the lines indicate that there are excess toner powders on the rollers or transfer belt within the printer. As the paper is moved along by the rollers and transfer belt, any excess powder left on them can result in lines being left on the paper.
A Line or Line of Dots Always Appears in Your Scanned Images

The document table may need cleaning. Clean the document table. See Cleaning the Scanner. If you still have the problem, the document table may be scratched.

A scan line (also scanline) is one line, or row, in a raster scanning pattern, such as a line of video on a cathode ray tube (CRT) display of a television set or computer monitor.
If you notice white or dark lines in your prints (also called banding), try these solutions before you reprint: Run a nozzle check to see if any of the print head nozzles are clogged. Then clean the print head, if necessary. Make sure the paper type setting matches the type of paper you loaded.
noun A photographic print, resembling the blue-print, giving black lines on a white ground.
A Bad Toner Cartridge

Usually associated with compatible or re-filled cartridges, a leaky cartridge deposits toner inside your printer and onto your paper in places that it`s not intended, resulting in black spots.
