Printer returned the error, “The printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed. Error code: 0xc6fd0213.” HP tells me this means there is a problem with the printbar and it needs to be serviced. Seems like this might not be a big problem, but I don’t know where to access this printbar.

How to Identify and Fix Common printer Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced technical support :

White streaking through the printout or an entire missing color both indicate an empty cartridge. If the cartridge is depleted of one color, it needs to be replaced. Each color is necessary to create the colors used in day-to-day printing.
HP has determined that 99% of all lines and streaks on copies made by feeding the original documents through the ADF are caused by debris on the ADF glass. Debris can include dust, paper or toner dust, residue from sticky note adhesive, correction fluid or tape, ink, fingerprints, and more.
Please let me know the steps. Hi, When you open the document in the HP Smart app select the options from the top right (slider icon) then select the colour&quality option from the bottom, then colour option and you`ll be able to select black only. “Say “Thanks” by clicking the Kudos Star in the post that helped you.
The streaks or lines might be caused due to low ink levels in one or both ink cartridges. Check the ink levels using the HP Toolbox to determine if the ink cartridges are low on ink and need to be replaced. note: Ink level warnings and indicators provide estimates for planning purposes only.
When your printer leaves black lines, the lines indicate that there are excess toner powders on the rollers or transfer belt within the printer. As the paper is moved along by the rollers and transfer belt, any excess powder left on them can result in lines being left on the paper.
Vertical lines in prints are an early warning sign of a low ink cartridge, which may show up before the printer`s low ink alerts start. You can fix the problem by replacing the low cartridge. Gently shaking the drained cartridge a bit may help to get another few prints out of it without vertical lines.
If you notice white or dark lines in your prints (also called banding), try these solutions before you reprint: Run a nozzle check to see if any of the print head nozzles are clogged. Then clean the print head, if necessary. Make sure the paper type setting matches the type of paper you loaded.
Whether you use an HP printer or any other, you can make it possible to print in black while your printer screen is showing the color cartridge empty notification. All you need to do is reset your printer first and then, make certain print settings i.e open the option of “Print in Grayscale”.
Black and white, Monochrome, Black Ink Only, or Grayscale: Uses only the black cartridge to print in black and white. High Quality Grayscale: Uses all colors and black to print higher quality black and white prints.
Streaks and unwanted lines could mean that the printer heads are out of alignment. There`s an alignment tool in the printer`s control panel. If that`s not the issue then the printer is dirty. Printer ink stripes may appear along the edges of the paper, which means there`s ink on the rollers and other parts.
If your HP printer not printing black ink correctly, here`s what you should do. Using non-genuine ink cartridges. Printheads that have become clogged. Ink cartridges that are defective or empty.
White lines will typically start appearing on your print outs due to a clogged up printer head. Your first port of call when solving this problem is to run the cleaning program on your printer, which should be accessible through its settings menu.
A vertical line is always a line that runs from top to bottom, or, from bottom to top. Standing lines are also a type of vertical line that runs vertically. We usually draw vertical lines between the bases of a trapezoid or a parallelogram….

The usual cause is a dust particle that falls on or is stuck to the paper. Then as the paper runs through the printer, the ink gets laid on top of the particle instead of the paper surface. Eventually the particle falls off leaving a white spot where it blocked the ink.

Darker (not black) vertical band about 3/8" wide 3 1/2" from left edge only on odd sheets and only in duplex mode
ANSWER : If you are using letter sized paper, then this is a horizontal band since the paper feeds in landscape mode. Either way it is a really odd problem. There is no way it could be either the fuser or the toner as both of those would consistently do the problem, not intermittently. Also, does the band go all the way across the page or does it have borders on either end.

Printer stops pulling paper from tray 2 after a few sheets
ANSWER : Sticking pickup roller solenoid. Pretty easy fix. You need to remove the right side covers. The back one just slides off, but the top holds the front one. I usually just take the 2 right side screws off and gently lift the top enough to pop off the side panel. Open the metal door on the formatter assy. Then release the tab in the middle. There’s also a tab at the front of the panel. When putting it back on, make sure you engage the rocker switch and the metal rod before pushing it into place. When you get it open, you’ll see the solenoid at the bottom front. There’s 1 screw holding it in place. Remove it and take the top plate and spring off. Be careful not to lose the spring. Then scrape off the gooey crap on top and clean off the plate as well. I put a piece of thin sticky backed felt in place of the remnants of the disintegrating sponge that HP uses. You can find it at the hardware store used for the bottom of chair legs.

I replaced the black toner cartridge and now the printer shakes though it is fine when I set it for grayscale only prints
ANSWER : You need to unlock the carousel. Once you unlock it and remove the toners, ignore all the rest of the crap. Pick any color and align the cartridge slot on the left side like you would have it to remove the cartridge. Then pull out on the gear towards you on the right and drop it so the right slot is lined up as well. You can get it aligned pretty close by just eyeballing it visually. I’ve never seen the left side go out of alignment, just the right, so this method has worked for me everytime.
